Footage Firm

Footage Firm - Spice up your production

We have recently presented Footage Firm, discovered on May 8th 2010 (we sent a reminder on 31th October when the "Free HD & SD Airplace Stock Footage" has been launched). This website offers an impressive number of free movies and music (royalty free), whether for embellishing your movies or DVD menu and to make loops. The themes are wide, from animals to nature, including sports and musical effects, for all styles in standard definition (SD) or High Definition (HD). Many of you already used these free movies, and you seems satisfied (comments in the french part of our website are very positive - so far, we did not receive any comments from english people, what do you think about it, did you already buy one collection ?).

This week, Footage Firm is presenting plenty of good opportunities for christmas gifts, with new themes. Hurry up, only 500 copies are available for each collection. On my side, I recently purchased a new pack that I use on my personnal DVD, that's a rather good quality.

The cost is almost null, since you will only pay the shipping and handling costs which are 8.41$ for a DVD (ie between 15 and 25 video clips). On their page you will see that music or videos clips are free, but that does not include postage. The quality is excellent, let's have a look by yourself with the following video we made with the package we acquired (theme "Time Lapse Vibrant Landscape and Time Lapse Nightscape" - of course, quality has been minimized for YouTube in order to having the lightest video possible, the aim being to allow a fast download):

Ordering is rather simple, go to the page listing the various collections, choose your theme (clicking on each DVD sleeve give you an overview of the clips included), then click on "ADD CART (then it's usual process, click on "Proceed to checkout" to indicate your details and to finalize the order). On our side, we have opted for a DVD collection called "Time Lapse". Very nice one !!!

So, have you taken the plunge, are you satisfied? What do you think? The content is rich enough ? Leave us a message. You can see below the promotional video produced by Footage Firm:

We organised a mini-contest in august 2010: the DVD has been won by "Jasper" who gave the answer which was the closest one to expected file size! Congratulations, we will explain everything below...

Explanations: the question was, on "Time Lapse NightScape" DVD sold by Footage Firm, there is a video-clip called ns10 (in full resolution - HD). What is the FILE SIZE of this file (file size to be expressed in KB) ? Indication:

  • the duration is 7 seconds...
  • people who know the "small bird" have other indications

The closest answer win a FREE DVD (free of shipping and handling). It was necessary to participate before 6 May 2010, by answering below in the comments (leaving a valid email address to receive the notification of the prize).

Answer: correct answer is: 53'312 KB. You had a serious indication, with "the small bird", which is Twitter of course (Twitter logo is a bird, see at the top of this page)! And as you know (see "Declic Video is present on Twitter !"), our tweets give plenty of good tips and tricks in such occasion... For this question, we inform you that the file size was lower than 95'000 KB but higher than 50'000 KB (and the sum of the figures = 14). You just need to do a small calculation for .mov format and you find the correct file size !! Congratulations Jasper, I just contacted you by email to send you the gift. If you do not answer in the next 7 days, we will select the next person who was the closest one...

Dear Sirs,
How do you use these video free footage on Pinnacle? Is it a plug-in or do you cut and paste into the working video file of my video footage? I hope I am not out of line in this topic?
Sorry.

Peter.

Hello Van Dort,

It's not a plugin. Those video are quite simple to use: they are .AVI or .MOV file, that you drag and drop on the timeline, as you would do with any other movie.

Is it clear enough ? Do not hesitate to ask any other question if I am unclear, you are completely within the frame of this comment section, no worry (we do not want to replace the vendor or a firm by giving technical advice, but your case is completely different).
