Download Pinnacle Studio 17 patch

Release of a patch for Pinnacle Studio 17 - Download link

After release of Pinnacle Studio 17 a few days ago, a first patch is already available. This is evidence that Pinnacle's development team is still working. Pinnacle recommends installing the update for all users.

--> Click here to download Pinnacle Studio 17.0.1.134 patch <--

It concerns Pinnacle Studio 17, Pinnacle Studio 17 plus as well as Pinnacle Studio 17 ultimate. The download for the patch is free for all users who already bought Pinnacle Studio 17.

For the moment only two improvements but at least it proves that Pinnacle continues to work hard :

  • updated Smart Encoding
  • multiple stability improvements

How come I got a message that Pinnacle Studio 17 could not be found?

I'm guessing you have moved the folder PinnacleStudioSetup from your desktop. The patch is looking for PinnacleStudio.msi that is located in this folder.
Relocating this folder onto your desktop should do the job.

After downloading and installing this patch, when trying to open the program it would not open and I got an error message that my system has changed since the program was installed and to re-install the program. My system is Windows 7 Premium Home 64bit. and It had not been changed. I re-installed the program but this made no difference.
I submitted this to technical support yesterday but other than acknowledging my case, I am still awaiting further response and attempting to get any further information on this seems to lead to a dead end. Frustrating to say the least that up to now I am unable to load this patch to improve performance

After installing Studio 17 and keeping Studio 16 installed, when trying to open Studio 16 I got na error message that the operating system has been upgraded and I must re-install the program. I am unable to open Studio 16! So, must I keep Studio 16 installed, as you recommended?

Amazing, Minutes after posting my previous message, I had a response from Pinnacle. The solution was simple
Right click the pinnacle icon, in properties unclick the box that says compatible with,. re start the system and hey it works fine now. Hope this helps others.

Can someone test smart rendering with m2ts files? It will improve in time, but where are we right now? I am looking forward with this smart rendering feature. I will enter here to check the answers. Thanks

Sorcer2k3,

Try to take a file, then render it.
Now, take the same rendered file, cut a piece of it, and render it again.
Observe the difference of rendering time.

Hey "Casper01" did you release the patch for AnvSoft HTML5 Slideshow Maker? No matter what I do, I can't click the patch button. Formatting is all wacked out, tab don't work, and changing resolution don't fix.

Not trying to hate! Just would like a working patch! Disregard if you have no clue what i'm talking about. haha

As far as I am concerned 17 + is a disaster. I have been using Pinnacle Studio since Version 8 - and only upgraded from 15 to 17+ because there were compatability problems with Windows 8.1.
Instead of easy to use dropdown menu's for effects I have to forage around in a cluster of 'tiles'. It appears that I can no longer add music by directly ripping from a CD ( I have a licence to enable me to do this for non commercial purposes), no easy way to grab video frames, creating titles is a nightmare, and as a grand finale when I eventually finished my first film it refused to burn to DVD. Error 0x80004005 kept popping up.
Reference to the web site indicated that the manufacturers were aware of this and the only way round it appears to be to create a file and copy it to the DVD. Only snag was the file in question was 7 GB - too large for a standard DVD. Ended up by converting it to a MPEG.
Technical support is a laugh - my free 14 days turned out to be for installation problems only - those of the type described above have to be paid for.

I've had the same problem with Pinnacle 17 Ultimate, the message about Windows components have been updated since the installation. The product doesn't open at all, however it did for a few days after installation for the first time. I'm in talks with tech support, but they've sent me a regedit tool, the 2 different patches, the last one released the 12 dec, but none of these work either. I've also cleaned all hidden directories and re-installed the product twice, which doesn't do anything either. I'm waiting for a new response from Corel again. I've been sent a new disk of the program today, but don't think that will do anything, unless a newer version of the software is on the disks which corrects the problem.

Hi Derek. Thanks for your suggestion, I was just in the process of trying it by doing a custom install, instead of having to do a standard install which takes a while, however with the custom install I can't even install the product at all now!! it locks up at file AVID.VFEditing.manifest and the only way I can shut it down is through task manager.

I've advised Corel that at the moment the are breaking the law by selling product that does not actually work, so I'll see what they say to that.

I'll try and do a standard install again, then try your solution. Just hope I don't have to unistall afterwards, clean the registry, etc, as it takes hours!!!

Thanks

Derek, me again. I've now finally managed to re-install the software again!! I clicked on the drop down menu in the compatability section and chose Windows 7 compatabilty as I'm running Windows 7 Professional, then applied the changes and now Pinnacle works, but I'm sure it's works the same if you just uncheck the box like you said.

Thanks for your help, maybe you should ask for some commision from Corel for finding a solution before them, lol :-)

Derek

I sent a final email to Corel saying that I had found the solution on the web and asked for it to be forwared to their legal and marketing department + their MD to say that before they release the products, make sure the developers have enough time to test it, as it's not for me to install and re-install the product a number of times, delete hidden files, etc, etc, that's what I'm paying them for!!

It's annoying because I've seen a lot of users with version 16, that had the same error message, which means they have not learnt from their mistakes. The product is fine, does everything I want, it just annoys me when other people have to do the work for large companies, to find the solutions to problems they haven't thought about or just ignored!

But thanks for your help as I can now use the product, it's nice to see a site where people help others for free and that's also easy to use.

Thanks for your info Gavin, I would be interested in their response.
I have previously used Pinnacle since version 8, up to 14 and Support was always good. However, After upgrading to this new version I found it difficult to work round Coral's website to even get in touch with Support is long winded.
I have though found that although the program has changed it has up to now been good to use. (Hope it continnues)

I'll let you know what they say, if they decide to respond. Yes your right their website was not good. If I remember I don't even think Pinnacle was listed in their products in the drop down menu when you ask for support. Even if you select "other product" in the drop down menu, the list of other products don't include Pinnacle either. Luckily for me I had a link in my email for 14 days free techical support after the purchase of the product, although I wasn't planning to use this free support to actaully get the product working!

Thanks Gavin
I see there is a new patch for this Studio 17, I downloaded and installed it this morning with my fingers crossed. It appears to be ok, so hopefully they will have addressed some if not all the issues that we and others have experienced.

yes they sent me the patch on the 12th, but it dind't fix the problem concerning the unchecking of the compatabily box, but hopefully it may resolve some other issues. They also sent me a questionnaire yesterday about what I thought about the technical support and Corel. They've now got a lot to read and think about, just hope they listen and learn, lol

In response to #Webb Dec 16 re support.
Had exactly the same response when I raised a 'non' installation problem - however I was told that the technician who dealt with the problem would refund the charge.
I ignored the 'kind' offer as I was still awaiting a satisfactory response on an 'installation' problem - namely how to remove a previous version of Pinnacle ( 15) from this computer. The usual 'remove program' procedure in 'control panel ' kept telling me that a another version of 15 was installed and that I should remove it first' - back to square one. I was advised to remove it manually - but there appeared to no files on the hard drive relating to 15. There are some 'pixie files' visible but no indication if these relate to 15 or 17. My request as to whether I can safely delete these without compromising 17 have been ignored.
I suspect the tech people are overwhelmed with problems with 17 as previously support has been brilliant - I got a response to an installation problem with 15 after I purchased it within 4 hours.

Have you ensured that Windows is showing you hidden directories? as there are some files here too, which you can't see as standard.

Pinnacle sent me a removal tool, which takes out all entries from the register plus removes previous versions of Pinnacle, not sure if they've sent you that tool to remove 15. The tool was no use for my problem, but may work for yours!

I suspect that that was the tool they sent me to deal with the 15 installation problem - allegedly 'cleaned the registry'. Tried it but to no avail. Not looked for hidden directories - not being a computer buff would know how to find them but will ask a friend who is.
Thanks

In the start menu of Windows, type show hidden files, then a box comes up and you can change the setting from don't show hidden files, to show hidden files and directories, then click apply. After - Uninstall Studio 15 including all other versions of Pinnacle/Avid Studio and contents and also delete the Pixie and Pinnacle folder under the paths below, which were problem hidden before : (don't delete all directories, just those which say Pinnacle and Pixie)

C:\ProgramData\Pinnacle
C:\Users\\AppData\Local\

After run the tool they gave you. I don't know if it will work, but at least if you can see the hidden directories you will know if there are some files still on your computer from the old version

I had the same problem on Windows 7, the best thing to do is leave it for an hour even though it looks like it's locked up. I did that, then eventually it unistalled itself, then reinstalled itself afterwards. But I stopped the installation a number of times thinking it was locked up. It may work for you, so have a glass of wine while you leave it to try and fix itself ;-)
