Installation of Studio 12 ... yes, but how?

Being a good student, I followed the recommendations of Pinnacle to install my new version of Studio Ultimate 12 (remember, "Studio 12 - First impressions"). After reading the documentation concerning transfer of content which does not advise you to uninstall any of the previous version, I started the migration...

So I installed the DVD Studio 12: fast, without warning ... In short, I was a happy user.
Then I installed the Ultimate CD: still extremely fast ... !  Finally I performed the transfer of content from my version of Studio 11 Ultimate: very easy ...  Here I am, therefore, very happy !

As you know I have a passion for HFX effects, I checked my cherished transitions. And this is where my enthusiasm started to decline. The opening of certain transitions in the Studio 12 album froze the program. Other transitions, including volumes 2 and 3 of Pinnacle did not display the expected effect.

Then, everybody started to look for a possible solution ... Each proposed "a trick"  to repair parts, an executable to repair another, the manipulation of files to solve some problems. In short, no singlepatch to solve the problem in its whole entirety. After all these investigations, one thing became obvious: there was a conflict between Studio 12 and the previous version of Studio.

On the forums, some users have indicated the correct installation of Studio 12 (when uninstalling previous version or users who had a clean install): perfect operation including the HFX effects. These users are using Vista as well as XP, ...  So I decided to follow these people by following this guideline :

• I have uninstalled Studio 12,
• I have uninstalled the previous version (10 and / or 11).
• Studio 9 and previous versions can stay on your hard disk without any problem
• I have not uninstalled any third-party applications (RTFx, Volumes HFX, Title Extreme SmartSounds, etc. ...),
• I did not manually delete files containing personal files (projects, reports ...),
• I installed DVD Studio 12,
• I Installed the Plugin CD (VitaScene, Magic Bullet, Boris Graffiti),
• I made the transfer of content with the Studio 11 bonus CD,
• I made the transfer of content with the CD to recover BIAS SoundSoap

I am back with all my usual tools, my unlock keys, my transitions unlocked, my SmartSounds ... And it works perfectly: true happiness!
I had just a little trouble with proDAD Mercalli light version. The key was ok, but the effect had the green icon at the end of use (watermark cross-shaped pink - trial version), while I bought the key. I just re-ran the installation file of the trial version and entered the key; Mercalli is back working ok, without the watermark.

Note that if you did not have Studio 12 already installed on your computer, you just need to follow the steps above, without the first one (uninstallation of S12). I would like to avoid people having to install S12, then uninstall it and continue the process... Otherwise, Declic Video has also followed the procedure above (without uninstalling S12, and everything went well !).

So now that I have covered all the problems, when do you start your installation ?

I bought studio 12 - having been very satisfied with 8,9 and 10.

Only when this was loaded did I find out that Hollywood FX Plus and also Mega discs do NOT work with 12 .

Very dissappointed.

Suggest you try as follows: exit Studio, find HFxSerial.exe program in your PC, start it, enter the licence keys of your HFX products.

Laxtonman, the solution gave by remy should have solved your problem. I just want to confirm to everybody that HFX Plus / Mega DO work with Studio 12. No worry. Otherwise, we would have told you !!! For sure.
