Up to now, to install our free 00 - Declic Video transitions in AVID Studio or new Studio Versions, it was necessary to have a version of Pinnacle Studio 1-15 installed on the same computer. But we felt that more and more we would have users who would start directly with new Studio Versions and we still wanted to offer our free transitions.

Step 1 : Some technical

To display a transition new Studio Versions need :

  • The components of the transition (objects images and effects);
  • The transition thumbnail;
  • The transition xml file.
  1. When you uncompress a HFZ file (see our tutorial "Tuto-1 Files with .HFZ extension"), the components of the transition are installed in folder Users\Public\Documents Publics\Pinnacle\Content\HollywoodFX.
  2. The transition thumbnail is created by Pinnacle Studio 1-15 (that you don't have);
  3. The xml file is created by Pinnacle Studio 1-15 (that you don't have).

New Studio Versions know ohow to retrieve components of the transition that you have downloaded on our site and uncompressed on your computer. But it lacks thumbnails and xml files. This is where we will help you providing thumbnails and xml files of transitions downloaded from our site. In case of problems when uncompressing, don't forget to read our tutorial "My HFX transitions create problems for me...".

Step 2 : Process to take advantage of our free transitions

We put at your disposal in our download page a file HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip. The 3 xxx corresponds to the last update of this file. Thus HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-356.zip will enable utilisation of all the transitions from 001 to 356 that you have uncompressed on your computer.

Exemple : You are interested by transitions 011, 056, 122, 253 and 352.

Once you have installed the thumbnails and xml files, you will not need to reinstall the updated version of the file HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip until the number of your transition to be installed is less than the number xxx of the Zip file.

Step 3 : Installation of our file HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip

Create a dedicated folder in your computer. Record and uncompress in this folder the file HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip. The Zip file includes :

  1. The file 00 - Declic Video.bmp which includes all thumbnails from 001 to xxx
  2. The xml files of all transitions from 001 to xxx
  3. An installation file INSTALL.BAT
Step 4 : Display 00 - Declic Video transitions in Pinnacle Studio 16 (or AVID Studio)
  1. In an administrator session or with UAC at lowest level (or desactivated in Vista), launch the INSTALL.BAT file by double-clicking its name.
  2. Follow the instructions that appears in the Command window.
The batch program will open Avid Studio

The program will open successively the new versions Studio installed and delete old files 00 - Declic Video if they exist.

The batch program informs the user
Display timing
After a 40 seconds duration, the program will load the new files.
End of batch program by a Summary report
The batch program will ask you to press a key and inform you that within a few seconds your 00 - Declic Video transitions will appear in the new Studio Version.

IMPORTANT WARNING : After installation of HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip file you will enable Pinnacle Studio 16 (or AVID Studio) to display all the transitions from 001 to xxx only if you have uncompressed corresponding HFZ files. Pinnacle Studio 16 (or AVID Studio) will only display transitions that you have uncompressed in your computer.
Later, you will may be wish to download and install transition 380 for example... You will have to download the new HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip (with xxx equal or greater than 380) and launch again the batch program INSTALL.BAT.

Users of new Studio Versions software without Pinnacle Studio 1-15, your favorite site has not forgotten you and gives you now the same benefit than all other users... Then enjoy, preview our free transitions and if you like them, feel free to download.

Thank you to all the guinea pigs volunteers who helped the development of this procedure, but I extend a big thank you especially to chris95 who has been the backbone of this development.

In summary:

  • HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip install our free HFX transitions 'Déclic Vidéo' in new Studio Versions if you do not have Pinnacle Studio 1-15
  • Trans-HFX-AVID transfer our free HFX transitions 'Déclic Vidéo' in new Studio Versions if you have Pinnacle Studio 1-15 (for additional information, please read "Pinnacle Studio, AVID Studio et les transitions 'Déclic Vidéo' ").

Hi, great tutorial! I have Pinnacle Studio 16 and like to install your HFX. Can I modify the BAT FILE because I don't have Program Files just Program on my hard drive.

Hello Jan,
There is no problem to modify the BAT file but be careful make backups before executing your changed batch program.

Attention, in Windows Explorer, the default folder is just called "Program" but in DOS programming (command line "cmd")it is called "Program Files".

Regards,

Success! After restoring a failing OS and re-installing Pinnacle 16 ,I have my transitions back.It took reading and re-reading this tutorial and checking my tool bar for missed notifications.Do not try to skip any of these steps,take your time,walk away once in a while,don't get distracted and poof, transitions !
