This tutorial is only for users of Pinnacle Studio version greater than 15. For Studio 9-15, see " Install our free HFX transitions in Pinnacle Studio 9-15".

To install our free 00 - Declic Video transitions in AVID Studio or new Studio Versions, it is necessary provide to Studio *. xml files that will allow it to display transitions.

Step 1: General

The procedures that we will show you can be classified into two categories:

  • Manually, to do by yourself and at your own risk.
  • Automated procedures using batch files. (In computing, batch processing is the execution of a series of programs ("jobs") on a computer, according to Wikipedia). The batch files have a .bat file extension.

Each procedure has its own advantages and disadvantages:

  •  Manual procedures can be a source of error for inexperienced users. On the other hand, they are more flexible and may be necessary on non-standard installations (other than the "C: \" drive for example);
  • Automated procedures using *.bat files can be used on standard installations. (Studio installed on the C:\ drive and in the default folders) and may require using the Windows Administrator mode and a particular setting for the User Account Control (UAC) for each version of Windows. See "Installation of Declic Video transitions: A to Z".

In both cases, Studio library that contains transitions will be updated.

Step 2 : Some technical

To display a transition new Studio Versions need :

  • The components of the transition (objects images and effects);
  • The transition thumbnai (AVID only)l;
  • The transition xml file.
  1. When you uncompress a HFZ file (see our tutorial "Tuto-1 Files with .HFZ extension"), the components of the transition are installed in folder Users\Public\Documents Publics\Pinnacle\Content \HollywoodFX.
  2. The transition thumbnail is created by Pinnacle Studio 1-15;
  3. The xml file is created by Pinnacle Studio 1-15.

New Studio Versions know ohow to retrieve components of the transition that you have downloaded on our site and uncompressed on your computer. But it lacks xml files. This is where we will help you providing xml files of transitions downloaded from our site. In case of problems when uncompressing, don't forget to read our tutorial "My HFX transitions create problems for me...".

Step 3 : Using the HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip file

We put at your disposal in our download page a file HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip. The 3 xxx corresponds to the last update of this file.

Create a dedicated folder in your computer. Record and uncompress in this folder the file HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip. The Zip file includes :

  1. The file 00 - Declic Video.bmp which includes all thumbnails from 001 to xxx
  2. The xml files of all transitions from 001 to xxx
  3. An installation file INSTALL.BAT

Thus HFX- DVFX-STUDIO-356.zip will enable utilisation of all the transitions from 001 to 356 that you have uncompressed on your computer.

Exemple : You are interested by transitions 011, 056, 122, 253 and 352.

  • Download these 5 transitions;
  • Uncompress them;
  • Install the file HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip ( See Step 6 );
  • Install thumbnails and xml files using our batch program ( See Step 7 );
  • New Studio Versions will display these 5 transitions in Creative Elements\Transitions\User Transitions\00 - Declic Video of the library.

Once you have installed the thumbnails and xml files, you will not need to reinstall the updated version of the file HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip until the number of your transition to be installed is less than the number xxx of the Zip file.

Step 4 : Procedure for AVID and versions equal or greater to Studio 16 without a S11-S15 version installed on the same partition
  1. Manual Procedure:

To display a transition, a new version of Studio needs:

  • The components of the transition (objects, images and effect) that are found in the Easy_FX version associated with your new version of Studio;
  • The thumbnail of the transition included in a * bmp file that you will need (AVID only) to provide according to the procedures below.;
  • The *.xml transition file you will need to provide according to the procedures below.

Thumbnail and *.xml transition files are generated by Studio 11/15 that you do not have. So you can't use transitions you create with Easy_FX in new versions of Studio if you do not have version 11-15 installed on the same partition. Regarding the free Declic-Video transitions, we are committed to providing you with all the free files you can install using the procedures listed below.

  1. Ensure that you have unpacked the transitions you want to install in the new version of Studio. These transitions should be visible in Easy_FX;
  2. Create a folder (eg HFXDVFX) under Program Files (x86)\AVID\Studio\plugins\RTFx\ or Program Files (x86)\Pinnacle\Studio ..\plugins\RTFx\;
  3. Use the HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-XXX.zip file that can be downloaded from our site. This file contains the 00 - Declic Video.bmp and all *.xml free Declic-Video transitions. Extract these files, copy and paste them into the folder you created in step 2 above. You don't need to use Install.bat since you opted for the manual procedure.
  4. Open the new version of Studio, wait a few seconds and you will see the transitions in the "User Transitions" (see capture below cons);

  5. If you have already created a folder filled with *.bmp and *.xml files and want to add new transitions, then you should:
  • Open the new version of Studio and display "User Transitions" in the library. Leave Studio open;
  • From Windows Explorer, delete all files in Program Files (x86)\AVID\Studio\plugins\RTFx \HFXDVFX or Program Files (x86)\Pinnacle\Studio ..\plugins\RTFx \HFXDVFX ;
  • Wait 20 to 40 seconds as thumbnail transitions are removed. If after 60 seconds thumbnail transitions are not removed, close and reopen Studio;
  • Copy all the *. bmp and *. xml files (old and new) in the Program Files (x86)\Pinnacle\AVID\plugins\RTFx\HFXDVFX ou Program Files (x86)\Pinnacle\Studio ..\plugins\RTFx\HFXDVFX for repopulating;
  • Wait 20 to 40 seconds as thumbnails transitions appear again in "User Transitions". If after 60 seconds thumbnail transitions are not displayed, close and reopen Studio.
Declic-Video transitions are visible in the "User Transitions" folder
  1. Automated procedure:

The HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-XXX.zip file, downloadable from our website, will include the Install.bat file ( Created and maintained by  Le Papy with the help of Chris95 for testing ) . Running this Install.bat file automates the tasks described above in order to avoid the tedious task of handling files after installation of HFZ. For more details on this procedure, you can refer to Step 6 and 7 below.
Run the batch file as an administrator and turn the "User Account Control" off to run the batch program - or set to zero - depending on your version of Windows. Otherwise you will get error messages and the program will not perform certain tasks. See "Installation of Declic Video transitions: A to Z"
Save the file on your hard drive and run it. To run a batch file, you only have to double click on the file name. In case of failure, use the Manual Procedure.

Step 5 : Procedure for AVID and equal or greater to Studio 16 versions with a 11-15 version installed on the same partition
  1. Manual Procedure:

To display a transition, a new version of Studio needs:

  • The components of the transition (objects, images and effect) that  are found in the Easy_FX version associated with your new version of Studio;
  • The thumbnail of the transition included in a *.bmp file from Studio11/15 version (AVID only);
  • xml file of the transition(s) generated by Studio version 11/15 that you will provide according to the procedures below .
  1. Bring up the new transitions in Studio 11-15 (see step 4 of the tutorial " Install our free HFX transitions in Pinnacle Studio 9-15");
  2. Create a folder (eg HFXDVFX - See capture below cons) under Program Files (x86)\AVID\Studio\plugins\RTFx\ or Program Files (x86)\Pinnacle\Studio ..\plugins\RTFx\ and fill it with the *.xml generated by Studio 11 to 15 for each transition. These *.xml files are to be copied to the version of Studio 11-15 in Program Files\Pinnacle\Studio ..\Plugins\RTFx\HfxXML or Program Files (x86)\Pinnacle\Studio 15\Plugins\RTFx\HfxXML .
  3. Open the new version of Studio and wait a few seconds to reveal the transitions in the "User Transitions";

  4. If you have already created a folder filled with *.xml files and you want to add new transitions, then you should:
  • Open the new version of Studio and display "User Transitions" in the library. Leave Studio open.
  • From Windows Explorer, delete all files in Program Files (x86)\AVID\Studio\plugins\RTFx \HFXDVFX or Program Files (x86)\Pinnacle\Studio ..\plugins\RTFx \HFXDVFX ;
  • Wait 20 to 40 seconds as thumbnail transitions are removed. If after 60 seconds thumbnail transitions are not removed, close and reopen Studio;
  • Copy all the *.xml (old and new) in Program Files (x86)\Pinnacle\AVID\plugins\RTFx\HFXDVFX or Program Files (x86)\Pinnacle\Studio ..\plugins\RTFx\HFXDVFX for repopulating;
  • Wait 20 to 40 seconds as thumbnails transitions appear again in "User Transitions". If after 60 seconds thumbnail transitions are not displayed, close and reopen Studio.
The new folder to hold the * xml files.
  1. Automated procedure:

Execution of TransHFX.bat ( created and maintained by Le Papy with the help of Francis57 and DV FX ) , downloadable from our website, automates the tasks described above in order to avoid the tedious task of manipulation of files after installing a HFZ. For more details on this procedure, you can refer to to Step 6 and 7 below.
Run the batch file as an administrator and Turn off the "User Account Control" to run the batch program - or set to zero - depending on your version of Windows. Otherwise you will get error messages and the program will not perform certain tasks. See "Installation of Declic Video transitions: A to Z"
Save the file on your hard drive and run it. To run a batch file, you only have to double click on the file name. In case of failure, use the Manual Procedure.

Step 6 : Installation of our file HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip

Create a dedicated folder in your computer. Record and uncompress in this folder the file HFX- DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip. The Zip file includes :

  1. The file 00 - Declic Video.bmp which includes all thumbnails from 001 to xxx
  2. The xml files of all transitions from 001 to xxx
  3. An installation file INSTALL.BAT
Step 7 : Display 00 - Declic Video transitions in AVID Studio, Pinnacle Studio 16 and/or Pinnacle Studio 17
  1. In an administrator session and with UAC at lowest level (or desactivated in Vista) , launch the INSTALL.BAT file by double-clicking its name.
  2. Follow the instructions that appears in the Command window.
The batch program will open Avid Studio

The program will open successively the new versions Studio installed and delete old files 00 - Declic Video if they exist.

The batch program informs the user
Display timing
After a 40 seconds duration, the program will load the new files.
End of batch program by a Summary report
The batch program will ask you to press a key and inform you that within a few seconds your 00 - Declic Video transitions will appear in the new Studio Version.

IMPORTANT WARNING : After installation of HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip file you will enable Pinnacle Studio 16 (or AVID Studio) to display all the transitions from 001 to xxx only if you have uncompressed corresponding HFZ files . Pinnacle Studio 16 (or AVID Studio) will only display transitions that you have uncompressed in your computer.
Later, you will may be wish to download and install transition 380 for example... You will have to download the new HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip (with xxx equal or greater than 380) and launch again the batch program INSTALL.BAT.

Users of new Studio Versions software, your favorite site has not forgotten you and gives you now the same benefit than all other users... Then enjoy, preview our free transitions and if you like them, feel free to download .

Thank you to all the guinea pigs volunteers who helped the development of this procedure, but I extend a big thank you especially to chris95 who has been the backbone of this development.
And if you do not understand everything, Bill Carey was kind enough to put you a video tutorial available.
Thanks to him.

Hi, great tutorial! I have Pinnacle Studio 16 and like to install your HFX. Can I modify the BAT FILE because I don't have Program Files just Program on my hard drive.

Le Papy By # Le Papy @ Monday, December 10, 2012 10:20 AM
Hello Jan,
There is no problem to modify the BAT file but be careful make backups before executing your changed batch program.

Attention, in Windows Explorer, the default folder is just called "Program" but in DOS programming (command line "cmd")it is called "Program Files".

Studio 16. I've tried to install HFX transitions. Seems like everything does what it is suppose to. HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-xxx.zip.file - check, BAT file - check, uncompressed HFZ files - check. I can not see the new transitions in my library. I can see the files on my C drive but not on the program. Any help appreciated

Hi Keith,

Le Papy has an idea: more and more users of Windows 8 report the inability to have transitions with the batch file. Here is the manual procedure for handling such kind of problem:
1 - Open Studio 16 and check Declic-Video transition in the library. Keep Studio 16 opened.
2 - From Windows Explorer, delete all files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Pinnacle\Studio 16\plugins\RTFx\HFXDVFX
3- Wait 20 to 40 seconds for the transitions to disappear
4- Copy all files and xml / bmp contained in HFX-DVFX-STUDIO-377.zip in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Pinnacle\Studio 16\plugins\RTFx\HFXDVFX for having them appearing again.
5- Wait 20 to 40 seconds that the transitions appear again in User Transitions.

Let us know...

DV FX,
I followed your instructions and after 40 seconds "User Transitions" appear under "Transitions". Under "User Transitions" I found "00 - Declic Video" with my Declic transitions.
Great improvement, thank you very much.

Hi and thank you for this site.

I struggled a bit using your batch file, when should I wait for process to finish and when to hit some button to continue? Comments on screen not very clear. But after watching the video by Bill Carey on installation I managed to install. After that I modified the (english) dialogs in the batch file a bit to make them clearer and 3 of my friends have had NO problem installing effects with my bat file after giving up using your install.bat (didn't have time/patience to read/search tutorials). Do you want my bat file? :-) You have to modify the french text, my french is not that good. (Although I can understand the DEBUG.TXT file)

Do you know how I can generate the xml files for my own HFX transitions?
Running Studio16.1 and cannot see the new ones in the transitions menu.

I tried installing Studio12 to generate the XML files from my HFX done in S16, but it did not like them and crashed.
Thanks
M

Déclic Vidéo FX By # Déclic Vidéo FX @ Sunday, February 23, 2014 1:23 PM
Hello Screengreen8,

Le Papy answer - translated by DV FX
It is not possible to generate an XML file.
XML files are created by Studio 11/15, this is the only possibility.

You can not see your transitions in Studio 17 but you can still use them in Studio 17 by using the trick we gave in our tutorial: "Transfer your Plugins and Transitions in all Studio Versions" (Step 5).

Transitions created directly with new versions of Easy_FX.exe or from Avid Studio, Pinnacle Studio 16 or Pinnacle Studio 17 are no longer compatible with Studio 11/15.

Just started to use Pinnacle Studio Ultimate last week.

Thank you for all the information, shared experience and advise.

Regrettably when I do this it will loose it and reuse the original transition (might have to do with what patch is used (I am using Patch_17_5_0 before the patch the behavior was different and many menu options did not exist))

Another way I discovered to use your own transitions is by selecting one that is not use often and renaming it to another name (I used #Original_ and then renaming mine the original_name.

This allow me to select my own transitions directly from the studio I just need to remember to transpose the name (x = y).

Kind regards

Hi,

I am using PS17.5 and trying to add a few more HFX transitions on top of those already in place and working. The XML folder has been updated however when trying to decompress HFZ file, the follow error is received:
Error 1330. A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file C:\Users\Ami\Desktop\PinnacleStudioSetup\Studio\Data1.cab has an invalid digital signature. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt. Error 0 was returned by WinVerifyTrust

Tried to use both InstallHFZ that was installed (197KB) and the one available on here (108KB) resulting in same error.

Appreciate a hint how to fix this.
Thanks

but it could not installed and showing continue error when I tried to install them

Le Papy By # Le Papy @ Friday, October 3, 2014 3:44 AM
Hi Anil,
With Windows 8 and Studio 17, you apply :
1- Step 3 (see example : First, uncompress transitions);
2- Step 5 (A-Manual Procedure or B-Automated procedure) and normally it works if you respect the terms of use of batch programs.
