It seems I have said to you that Boris Graffiti was much more than a titler. However, the first tutorials were all devoted to animated titles with some special effects. So it's time to show you some creative uses of this titler.

I propose this time to awaken a pride of lions in the early morning, on the open savannah ...
The spotlight on your 4x4 vehicle will accomplish this feat.

In Studio 12, I selected a video clip of a pride of lions that I put on the timeline. If you do not have lions, you can use a herd of elephants, as long as they are walking ...
Then you apply the Boris Graffiti video editing effect. You will find these in the Boris Graffiti LIbrary Browser.

Step 1 : Preparation of the effect

First, choose a gradient. From the "animated gradients", select "Radial".
Then you'll select the scale1.red.grf gradient. All of a sudden, it's dark as night, with only your spotlight piercing the night.

Step 2 : Setting the effect

Before making any settings changes, check the selected track. I'll remind you that the selected track is light blue.

So you start with the gradient scale1.red.grf. This already has default gradient parameters and keyframes to animate it. View it by pressing the "Play" button in the "Composite Window" at the top right.
The diameter of the gradient is increasing gradually from beginning to end. Then stop the playback by pressing the "Stop" button and click on the first keyframe of the "Face" track, which will move the cursor to the beginning of the timeline. As we do not want the diameter of the gradient to change, we will edit the settings.

Use the two keyframes from the beginning and end of the effect to apply a value of -100 to the "Scale Stops" parameter with a linear interpolation (/). Reminder: Click on an image keyframe to select it.
Select the gradient track and then add a Background track (Track / New Background). This track, selected in blue, supports V1 media, ie the clip of the lions. At the same time you'll notice the duration of the clip, 8 seconds and 2 images.
It is really too black ... let's set the opacity at the beginning and end of the effect to a value of 75 with a linear interpolation (/).
Now you can see a little clearer as you move the spot (centered default) on your first attempt.
Earlier in this tutorial, you set the first keyframe (already established) with linear interpolation (/). Of course, the parameters are a function of your image of either lions or elephants ... Here are the values that I applied, 39/42.
At around 30% into the timeline create a second keyframe on the Face track (Track / New keyframe) with linear interpolation (/). Here I applied the values of 56/50, which will move the spot to the second position.
At around 60% of the timeline add a third keyframe on the Face track with a linear interpolation (/). Here the values that are applied are 52/69, resulting in further movement of the spot.
And then as the day dawns, select the gradient track, create a key and set the opacity to 60 with a linear interpolation (/).
You arrive at the end of the effect at the 4th and last keyframe. You will focus your spotlight on the edge of the forest where something has changed... Here are the values that are applied, 58/23 with a linear interpolation (/).
It is increasingly day ... You end your effect with an opacity setting of 50 using linear interpolation (/).
