New HFX #224 to #229

posted @ Saturday, January 26, 2008 12:00 PM by Déclic Vidéo

Without any specific theme, this week we will provide a lot of transitions from the personal collection of Papy. Fortunately, a new rotation started and new transitions from other authors have been provided (they should be available in the next upload, transitions from candace and babujess). They will be submitted soon and we're sure this entry will be a breath of fresh air. I hope that the transitions available to you this week will be helpful for your next movie project. In any case I hope that the transition 226-Afficheur gives you more ideas...

Improving your HFX experience...

posted @ Saturday, January 26, 2008 11:30 AM by Déclic Vidéo

Now you know all you need to know about the user interface! Three weeks ago, you learned how to create your own effects with the HFX Tuto-5, thanks to Mr. Jos Roijakkers (JR-VIDEO). All you need to do now is to expand on those lessons to make your creations even more realistic and alive. This is the subject of Tuto-6, donated once again by Jos Roijakkers, translated into english by grendet, fine tuned and adapted to this website by Loosecannon.

You will learn how to combine individual items to move them simultaneously. You will learn how to play with shadows, blurs, and the trails left by the movement of objects. You will use the movements of the camera to move in space. All these enhancements are very interesting but consume a lot of power. We will study the results of your choices on the rendering time which depends on your setup and your choice of options.

Convert CD to WAV or MP3

posted @ Thursday, January 24, 2008 10:30 AM by Déclic Vidéo

Studio gives you the option to add a musical background to your project from an audio CD. Although this feature is interesting and works reasonably well, it may cause you some minor inconveniences. What are they?

  1. First, it is common knowledge that Studio prefers the WAV format to any other audio format. With WAV, you avoid virtually any audio crashes. If a problem occurs, the system CD can often circumvent the obstacle. When you insert a CD into Studio, it generally converts the CD to a WAV file...
  2. Moreover, it often happens that Studio will not recognize a CD that has already been used in another project. It may then be necessary to tweak the registry...
  3. Finally, when you have almost completed and rendered your project, and you need to remove auxiliary files for one reason or another, you will realize that all your music loaded from the various CD's are gone with the auxiliary files. You may have to bring in all your CDs to Studio to restore the sound to your movie ..

So, to avoid all these little worries, take the time to transfer your music files to your hard drive. It's a winning situation for you as time spent in the transfer is only a minor inconvenience. If you are convinced, let yourself be guided by the tutorial we offer.

Repare your broken HFX !

posted @ Saturday, January 19, 2008 11:50 AM by Déclic Vidéo

With Vista (Studio 11.1 and Studio 10.8), HFX effects were broken, disappeared, have some strange behavior, etc...

Thanks to volunteer people (thanks Francis57), we have been able to compile with Le Papy a small batch file which solve the problem !! In addition, it creates a backup copy of the HfxXML folder, which should avoid any problems in the future. As usual, take caution when using batch file, ensure that it has been downloaded on our website, and make backup before running it. Extra cautions for Studio english version, it has only be tested on very few system... Any feedback is welcomed (use the contact page for reporting problem, so we can assist with it - No other technical problem will be taken into account).

The associated tutorial has been updated accordingly: "Tip-1 / HFX effects do not appear in Studio"
The batch file is available in the usual download page.

Thanks for your support !

What users do with Hollywood FX software

posted @ Saturday, January 19, 2008 10:00 AM by Déclic Vidéo

Sometimes it is difficult to explain using words what Hollywood FX software can do, so a movie can give a much better idea! In general, these movies are created by the software publisher....
A visitor to this website, sep, had done his own video clip with HFX a few years ago, showing how powerful this tool can be (he is also very talented and skillful, otherwise, it would not be possible to do something so beautiful...).
Now, sep, let's go and see your creation. The best of the best videos will be shown on this website (the panel is composed of 4 people, all of them must approve the video before it can be published).

Congratulations sep for this wonderful movie !

Using transparency with Pinnacle Studio

posted @ Wednesday, January 09, 2008 12:00 PM by Déclic Vidéo

We are not in a laboratory creating special effects, this tutorial is done just to show you the principle of using an overlay, which can be used and applied by each of you. Studio is a program with amazing possibilities. The use of transparency is just one among many others. As integrated into Studio it is based on the use of the PIP color tool(Chroma Key). Are there other possibilities?

If you want to know everything about the tutorial and maybe having your creation shown on television...

This week, learn how to create your own effects ! In the "Tuto-2 General Tutorial", we have looked at the user interface. This overview was necessary in order to find most of the essential functions. It will become very clear when you are using the program. And what better way than to create an effect yourself. In this part we will investigate this possibility.

Thanks to "grendet" for the translation and adaptation of the article (dutch to english) and to "Loosecannon" who fined tune the excellent original tutorial donated by Mr. Jos Roijakkers JR-VIDEO.
