posted @ Saturday, March 08, 2008 12:30 PM by Déclic Vidéo

Transfer your movies and tapes to DVD

A number of you want to preserve old  super 8 movies and/or old VHS tapes.  The first step is to get them on a DVD either by you or someone else. After that is done you may want to go further by cutting some scenes, edit some lighting and even make a video montage.  And why not add a menu.  The Studio software is perfectly suited for this type of operation, as these DVD's are not copy-protected.

A Powerful New Troubleshooting Tool

posted @ Saturday, March 08, 2008 11:30 AM by Déclic Vidéo
The database of solutions Pinnacle

Pinnacle has just changed its knowledge base. It has become a database of solutions. Of course it has a new "look" but more importantly, it has new, powerful search facilities. All problems solved are stored in the database solution.
Two types of research are at your disposal:

  • Generic search with the "Search" button
  • An advanced search with the "Advanced Search" link which allows you to search by product, category, keyword or phrase.

Finally, tips are given (link "guidance") in the most appropriate way to answer your request. So, before asking a question to the right or left, take a look through this database of solutions, you are not alone and others have certainly had the same problem before you. You will have the satisfaction of your own search criteria and you get an instant response.

For your information, the US website has changed, but not only the look... You will find tutorials, testimonies, and much more...

HFX & UAC - User Account Control

posted @ Saturday, March 08, 2008 8:00 AM by Déclic Vidéo

A tip from Ann, one of our newslettre subscriber: UAC needs to be turned off when running the batch file *and* when running Studio 11 for the first time after adding a new hfx in order for Studio to regenerate the HfxXML folder. Otherwise the miniature for the new hfx are black and tip2 did not fix it. Some people have reported tip-2 did not work for them and that's one of the reason.
Consequently, we have updated the related "tips & tricks" :

Tip-1 HFX effects do not appear in Studio

Tip-2 My HFX thumbnails in Studio are black

Additionnal informations regarding UAC:

Microsoft - Windows User Account Control Step-by-Step Guide

Attention, I'd like to take this opportunity to inform you that we update our tutorials all the time... Each time we receive a comment or advice, we take it into consideration, and we modify our tutorial accordingly. In general, we don't usually inform you of such modification, so we strongly suggest that you check our tutorials regularly and also the "last updated date". This way, you will always get the latest version...

HD-DVD is Dead, Long Live Blu-Ray

posted @ Saturday, March 01, 2008 10:30 AM by Kiwi

For some time now Sony (Blu-Ray) and Toshiba (HD-DVD) have engaged in a format war over the High Definition standard and the war has just ended.

And Sony is the winner. In effect, Toshiba has thrown in the towel (*) after Hollywood (Warner Bros.) and major retailers such as Wal-Mart adopted the Blu-Ray format.

The consumer will be the winner in this battle, because, until now, they did not know what choice to make when purchasing High Definition Multimedia equipment. Moreover logical drive prices are expected to fall by next Christmas.

And, for us, the video enthusiasts, the ball is now in the court of the manufacturers of camcorders and video editing software to incorporate the Blu-Ray standard in their new products.

(*) Toshiba announced on 19th February 2008 that he will stop development, manufacture and commercialisation of HD DVD player/recorder.
