Smartsound no more working with Studio ?
Pinnacle, having some difficulties with Smartsound, is no longer maintaining the SmartSound plugin incorporated into Studio; this will start with the next patch of Studio 12; Smartsound will then be deactivated.
The information came from U.S. Pinnacle forum (Thanks to Timeless Moments).
As pointed out : Studio 12 was placed on the market with SmartSound plugin (as mentioned in the 209 page manual and online help Studio 12). It would be unfair not to secure the integration of Smartsound plugin... Do not hesitate to give us your opinion and to vote. EDIT 16.10.2008: Poll is closed. Results can be found here: Studio 12 : Version 12.1.3.6605a is arrived
SmartSound is still working with Studio 12.1.3. Wednesday, August 13, 2008 1:15 PM
Thank you for including a vote on this important subject. Withdrawing a major compnent of a product after release and without consultation or compensation is an absolute disgrace. Avid should be ashamed of themselves, Smartsound too if it is partly their fault. This needs to be flagged at the higest level to ensure this disastrous move never takes place. As far as I know Studio12 contains Scorefitter instead of Smartsound. I am using scorefitter now. I appreciate your effort to support the Smartsound users. Friday, August 15, 2008 4:34 AM
I would not have upgraded and spent the money if I knew this was going to happen. Sure the additional "candy" is worth the cost of S12, but I use Smartsound in every video I edit. Scorefitter is not of the same quality level as Smartsound. Very bad move by Avid/Pinnacle. Not listening to it's users. Friday, August 15, 2008 7:57 AM
Some users reported that they find Scorefitter less musical than SmartSound. What do you think? Any comment welcome! Friday, August 15, 2008 8:44 AM
Yes Remy, I definitely agree with your remark. I make the same observation while trying Scorefitter... DV FX Wednesday, September 24, 2008 12:09 PM
Over the years I bought 20 or more disks with music for smartsound. I am really disappionted about the decision to exclude it from the studio programm and not even give a workaround from pinnacle. Please come back on this stupid decision and make it available again for all happy users. Monday, September 29, 2008 9:08 PM
I own both ULead VS 11 (since V7) and Pinnacle Studio 11.5 Plus (since V8.) I had to go to ULead for video capture because Pinnacle NEVER delivered on its promise to support Sony MicroMV. I am TIRED of these people getting my money and not delivering what they promise. I prefer Pinnacle's editing and DVD production tools, and bought $250 of SmartSound discs to use with it. While I would be happy to use Pinnacle's new product if it turns out to be as good, I resent that Pinnacle once again made me waste my money--IF I am stupid enough to buy their crippled product. I have made several projects with ULead alone and find the difference is mostly in changing my habits. And ULead has never made me waste my money; my SmartSound library will continue to work fine with them. I was about to toss away $130 on Studio 12 Ultimatum until I wised up and went back to this forum. You folks were extremely helpful in my MicroMV days, and you did it again. Thanks! BobK, Pinnacle was the first one who supported MicroMV. We finally decided to drop this format as Sony was also stopping the support of their format. Based on the very low number of products sold and HD coming, it was better to focus on the emerging standards as HDV or AVCHD rather than supporting MicroMV. Regarding Smartsound, we are stil working with Smartsound developers to find a good agreement for our common users. But nothing new up to now. As soon as more information will be available, we will communicate to our end-users. # Burton Finch, Ownage Inc. Wednesday, October 08, 2008 11:25 PM
Hey guys, B Finch from Ownage Inc. here. I recently purchased S12 Ultimate, and im saddened that SmartSound will no longer be supported. I may have to return the product and request that my account be credited. $130 down the drain. =\ For clips of my videos, check YouTube and type in "Burton VS F.E.A.R.", the OFFICIAL theme song is "Bayou Bash" from the QuickTracks Premiere sound section under the "World" tab. If anyone can send a 1:31 .wav/.mp3(preferred) file to Nether_Finch@hotmail.com I'd very much so appreciate it. It's called "Bayou Bash", thanks in advance! -B. Thursday, October 09, 2008 7:50 AM
Hi Burton, Looks like you used a previous version of Studio for creating the clip with Bayou Bash. If SmartSound still installed on your machine, you will be able to use it with S12. Otherwise you can reinstall SmartSound separately from the CD's of previous Studio version (you have to browse into some Pinnacle Music folder and run the ad hoc install program.. You might want to use the Export>File>Audio function of S12 to create your own mp3's. Do several versions with different lenghts and variations. Hope this help. Rémy Thursday, May 21, 2009 5:41 PM
It is completely unfair to eliminate Smartsound when it is clearly a more sophisticated audio program, plus I paid all this extra money to get it packages. Thursday, May 21, 2009 8:36 PM
Dont' worry. Take a look at our last news concerning this subject.
