This tutorial shows you step by step how to install Studio 14 Ultimate Collection. Initially, we will detail the basic installation of Pinnacle Studio 14, then the plugins Ultimate Collection.

Before beginning installation, be sure to finalize your current works in Studio (render a DV Encoder AVI or MPEG depending on your source). We advise to temporarily inhibit your antivirus software once you download Studio 14, before starting the upgrade process.

One last thing if you install Studio 14 on a new configuration and you own activation keys : read the article How to enable all activation keys at once when re-install Studio? in our FAQ Studio.

Let's go !

After inserting the Pinnacle Studio 14 DVD, this window opens, click on "Studio 14" to begin installation... Studio 14 installation
You have this message, asking you to proceed to install Windows Installer. Click on "OK". Windows Installer message
The installation process will run. installation process
When it is finished, restart your PC by clicking on "OK". Restart message
Now you can proceed with the strictly speaking installation by clicking on "Studio 14" a second time (if this window does not show up, re-insert the DVD). Window after DVD S14 insertion
But before proceeding, choose from the list box, the installation language (Chinese if you dare !). Langage list box
The S14 installer configures Windows Installer (previously installed). Windows Installer configuration
A few seconds of waiting and registration window appears, complete all fields. Registration form
This window lets you choose between 2 modes of activation : immediate of delayed (for my part, I recorded later, so I do not present the screenshots associated, but it's very simple). Activation window
You are now in the installation wizard that will perform several procedures : calculating the space required, initialization directories, etc... calculating the space required
The collection of some informations will start by clicking "Next".

Then read and accept the license agreement by checking the appropriate box. Licence agreement
Then, choose the folder where you want to install Studio 14, it is strongly recommended to install in the main disk C:\ (so do not change anything !). Target folder

Choose the users of this application, by checking the appropriate box if you are several to use the same PC. With Vista, we recommend you to check the second option because of problems related to UAC.

Remove shortcuts by unchecking the options that do not interest you. Shortcuts
Everything is now ready for installation, click "Install". Install window
The process begins, then follow the calculation of space required, validation of the installation, the new files copy... Status window
Windows will also (re) configure the video driver from Pinnacle. Video driver configuration
Then delete the earlier versions of it. Note that you may be asked the location of the file MarvinBus.sys, in this case tell him the path C:\Windows\System32\drivers. previous files deleting
After few minutes of patience, the installation is finally over. If you don't want to view the Read me file uncheck the box. I strongly recommend to read it, there are several interesting parts like chapter 2 regarding SmartMessenger, chapter 4 - graphic card memory, chapter 5 for the screen resolution (must be above 1024 x 768), chapter 6 about transfer content, chapter 7 for opening old Studio projects, chapter 8 regarding AVCHD editing, chapter 15 for viewing your movie on a second monitor, chapter 18 for Scorefitter with 5.1 sound using Vista and finally chapter 19 regarding plugins ! Now that the installation of Studio 14 is completed, install the plugins by clicking "OK". Plugins installation window

The installation of Studio14 (basical) is complete.

Now proceed with the installation of RedGiant plug-ins.

In the "Installer" window click on "Studio plug-ins". Plug-ins installation
After choosing the installation language, you have several screens as the configuration of Windows Installer, the license agreement...

You reach this window. Choose "Standard installation". For those with more experience, "Custom Setup" allows you to choose which plug-ins to install. We strongly recommend the standard installation. Installation choice
After this choice, the installation window appears, click on "Install" to start the installation process. Installation startup
From there,  several screens appear : elimination of current application, new files copying...

And last, the end of the installation of RedGiant plug-ins. RedGiant installation
It's over, you only have to click on "Finish". Finished

You did this very well !

Can I really uninstall all other versions and content? Even though I was told that I could after installing s12 it always caused problems when I did.

Are you sure that after installing s14 that I can uninstall all previous installations and not experience any problems with the new s14 installation?

Thanks in advance,

Howard

Thanks Gert !!

@ Howard,
Yes you can, but only AFTER S14 installation...
On my side, I have uninstall S10/S11 when I upgraded to S14, without any problem. I have only S9, S12 and S14 on my computer. I would recommend to stay with S12 for a few weeks, just to be sure that no content is missing. In addition, you can use SmartSound in S12 (which is not possible in S14).
But for sure, if you uninstall S12, you won't have any problem (excepted if you have no luck and a non-standard configuration). A 100% answer is never possible with computer, sorry... I would say that I am 98% confident !

Hello,
I installed PS14 Ultimate Collection. Transferred the content from PS11.
But, how can I use Smartsound in PS14 UC?
Now I can only see Scorefitter. No Smartsound is available anymore.
Thanks for the cooperation!
Edwin.

Hi Edwin (Reebok),
Pinnacle does not support Smartsound anymore. It's a pitty but it's like saby wrote, no way to use Smartsound in S14.

COPY FROM FIRST IMPRESSIONS re SMART SOUND

Have asked SmartSound re Pinnacle Studio 14 and this was their reply !!

Hello Gert, That is correct, Pinnacle did not include the SmartSound Quicktracks plugin in Studio 11 or 12, but it would still work if you installed the plugin on your own. This is not the case in the upcoming Studio 14, which will specifically disable Quicktracks. Unfortunately there will be no way to access SmartSound music from within Studio 14. However, you can use our standalone software, Sonicfire Pro 5. Sonicfire Pro 5 can use all of your SmartSound music and will generate an audio file at the length you need. You can then take that audio file and import it into Studio to use. The full Scoring Edition of Sonicfire Pro also gives you much more flexibility when it comes to customizing your tracks. If you like, you can download a free demo of Sonicfire Pro from the link below to see what it can do. Although you may lose some workflow efficiency by having to change between programs, you gain much more control over the music. If you want to use SmartSound music in Pinnacle Studio 14, this will really be the best option. You can download the demo of Sonicfire Pro 5 here:http://www.smartsound.com/sonicfire/demos/go5.html You can view some online tutorials on using Sonicfire Pro here:http://www.smartsound.com/sonicfire/tutorials/index.html Hope this helps, if you have any other questions, please let me know. SmartSound " how to " clarification !!
Is there a way ( looking for step by step instruction ) on how to extract what is already sitting in Pinnacle Studio into your STAND ALONE ? I think you might want address this since there are a large number of Studio users around the world who don't want to loose anything by upgrading to Studio 14 !! Best Regards Gert Reitner> Date: Mon, 14 Sep 2009 11:48:40 -0700> To: gert.r@bell.net> From: support@smartsound.com>
Hello Gert, It should be seamless. Both Sonicfire Pro and the Quicktracks plugin use the same folder to store sound files, so you should only have to install Sonicfire Pro and it should detect all of your previous music. If you store your music in a separate folder other than the default SmartSound location, you will need to go into the options menu and click the Folders tab, then click Add and browse to the folder where your sound files are stored. Once this is set, Sonicfire Pro should detect all of your SmartSound music. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Regards,Frank -----------------------------

OK,

Thanks for all the quick reply. I know about Sonic Fire Pro though, but to put a Smartsound file directly into the project is much more easy.
Another thing I tried and it worked is to convert all the Smartsound files into .WAV files.
WAV files you can use in PS14.
What you cannot do then as to create an end to the music like Smartsound automaticly does when you adjust the lenhgt to the scene. So you'll have to fade the music out.

Thanks again and to bad that Smartsound is not directly available in PS14. In my opinion it is a short coming.
PS14 UC,....the new Pinnacle software more functions,...more this,....more that,.... Ooh, we forgot to mention,....." You will have less music files !!!!"

I managed to solve problems with Bias SounSoap (invalid XML - error 4) for Windows XP with proceduree explained in your article: Use VirtualDub's filters in Studio. "delete the file EffectCache.xxxxxx et EditorCache.xxxxx (xxxxx = a hex number) in the folder
..Documents and Settings\all users\Documents\Pinnacle\Program Files\Pinnacle\Studio 11 (or 12)\Programs\Plugins\RTFx"

It's a pity you cannot use Smartsound with Pinnacle Studio 14. Smartsound has very good film musik and it have worked fine several years from now. I uppgraded to Studio 14 but regret it now and use the studio 12 Ultimate instead. I cant understand they were so stupid not to work this out. I am sure they both will loose market segments on this!

Thanks TheBan for your feedback, very interesting !!! That's funny that you find the information (I was not able to have it working on my side...)

I worked out a dvd based on normal piucures I scanned and everything worked out. Now with nmy furst film I get a dvd which cannot be read by my dvd equipment and also on pc I get mediaplayer reading it only on my laptop and not on PC... (maybe video set up) I can only read it on pc via asus dvd player. What mistake did I do? what is wrong in my settings? Any help will be very very much appreciated. thank you all

Kurt By # Kurt @ Saturday, November 07, 2009 5:39 PM
Hello and thanks for any response in advance.

You mention at the end of this article the following...

"Here is what has been installed during this phase:

* Hollywood FX effects (like Volume 1 / Volume 2 / Volume 3). our free HFX effects.
* Title Extreme
* Scoreffiter (Volume 1 / Volume 2)
* Premium Pack (Volume 1 / Volume 2)
* RTFx Volume 1
* Creative Pack Volume 1
* Winter Pack Volume 1
* Magic Bullet Looks from Red Giant"

However, I don't see many of these installed? I have Studio 14 Ultimate Collection and in the video/aucio effects sections I can only seem to find the free HFX effects, Scorefitter(but I don't see where it indicates V1 or V2), Magic Bullet, RTFX V1. I DO NOT see Hollywood FX packs, Title Extreme, Premium Packs, Creative Pack or Winter Pack. WHERE ARE THEY??

Steve By # Steve @ Friday, November 13, 2009 12:14 PM
Very disappointing that Studio 14 does not recognize Smart Sound. I've been collecting them since Studio 9 and have a few hundred $$$ worth of the CD's. If I had of known Studio 14 didn't have the ability anymore, I would have stuck with Studio 11.
This is ridiculous Pinnacle. Will not be encouraging any users to Studio 14!

Sorry Kurt,

Your comment has been probably lost in our system... Just to let you know, if it's not too late, that you need to BUY these effects if you want them to be transferred from your previous content. Otherwise, of course, you can not obtain them for free.
Hope it helps,

After installing Pinnacle Studio 14 Ultimate under Vista Home Premium my computer continues to configure it when I'm not using it under an administrator account, but as a regular user.
What can I do to stop this from happening

Déclic Vidéo FX By # Déclic Vidéo FX @ Sunday, January 24, 2010 8:32 AM
It depends how you did the installation. Check our tutorial: "Choose the users of this application, by checking the appropriate box if you are several to use the same PC. With Vista, we recommend you to check the second option because of problems related to UAC."
Studio need to be launched with UAC deactivated.

Nico By # Nico @ Sunday, January 24, 2010 1:50 PM
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately it does not give a good answer to the problem. UAC is an important feature of Vista, which I do not want to disable.
I would appreciate a solution that works in a normal way under Vista without disabling security options.

So, I hope for further action from Pinnacle.

Déclic Vidéo FX By # Déclic Vidéo FX @ Sunday, January 24, 2010 3:13 PM
Hello Nico,

Sorry, there are currently no solution without disabling UAC... Just as a reminder if you are not aware, we are *NOT* Pinnacle Team nor do we represent Pinnacle. We are just some amateur, trying to give the most of Pinnacle. Try to contact Pinnacle through the support or forum ? Have a nice day,

Dear DV,

Thanks for your reply. I thought somehow you were connected to Pinnacle.
