8 Comments :: (Total Votes: 23) Category: Studio Tips & Tricks, Tutorials / Installation - Latest tutorials Published on Sunday, September 27, 2009 Created on Saturday, September 26, 2009 4:08 PM | | You saw in the previous tutorial Pinnacle Studio 14 installation how to install Studio 14 and RedGiant plugins, now we are going to see how to install other plugins proDAD, NewBlue, BWPlugins, Bravo Studio Pack, Dziedzic's effects, PE Camera POV, Stage Tools, Vance Effects, RTFx Vol2, Boris Graffiti as well as third parties plugins (like JPs effects, BS Effects and WL Filters). It's not the only method, but the one who worked for me, and which seems the easiest one to follow by most of you. Others technics exist as well, like the one presented by Francis57 which propose files manipulation, which consist to copy and paste .fex and .xml files from Studio 12 to Studio 14 (check Step 6 below for all explanations).
We advise to temporarily inhibit your antivirus software once you download Studio 14, before starting the upgrade process. Summary: Step 1 : RTFx Vol 2 installationIf you do not own RTFx Volume 2, this installation is not necessary. RTFx Volume 2 are available as a separate purchase, but also on some DVD Bonus Content of previous Studio version and usable after purchasing a key from Pinnacle.
| Insert Studio DVD, then in the "Installer" window of Studio 14, click on "Transfer content. |
| The wizard window opens, click "Next". |
| In this window answer "Yes" and select either "Studio 10" or "Studio 11" depending on which version you have. |
| You are now in the final wizard window, click "Finish". |
| You're back to the "Installer" window, that's normal ! Insert your RTFx Vol 2 DVD or DVD Bonus Content. |
| Installing preparation begins. |
| Choose "Repair" option. |
| The installation starts, this may take a few seconds. |
| Installing RTFX Vol 2 is completed. |
| To take it into account in Studio 14, you must restart the "Tranfer content" again. |
| After the wizard window, you reach this window, click "Next". |
| The transfer process is running. |
| Now, RTFX Vol 2 is transferred to Studio 14, click on "Finish" and once back to the "Installer" window click "Exit". |
This part concerns proDAD, NewBlue, BWPlugins, Bravo Studio Pack, Dziedzic's effects, PE Camera POV, Stage Tools, Vance Effects, RTFx Vol2, Boris Graffiti as well as third parties plugins (like JPs effects, BS Effects and WL Filters). Step 2 - proDAD, NewBlue, BWPlugins, BSEffects, Bravo Studio Pack, Dziedzic, ... plugins installation
| In the "Installer" window of Studio 14 click on "Transfer Content. |
| The wizard window opens, click "Next". |
In this window answer "Yes" and select either "Studio 10" or "Studio 11" depending on which plugins you own.
| You are now in the final wizard window, click "Finish". |
| Back to the "Installer" window, you can insert your DVD Bonus Studio 10 or Studio 11 depending on which version you have. |
| The preparation of installation begins. |
| Choose the "Repair" option to install plugins already present on your system, or "modify" if you want to add plugins not already present on your system (in such case, proceed in two steps, modify and then repaire, followed by the transfer content validation in each case). |
| The installation is done, this may take a few seconds. |
Installing the previously listed content is completed.
| But for it is taken into account in Studio 14, you must restart the "Tranfer content" again. |
After the wizard window, you reach this window, click "Next".
| The transfer runs. |
| It is over, click "Finish", you're back again to the "Installer" window but this time click "Exit. |
It's not finished, for proDAD we need to install Service Packs. Step 3 - proDAD Service Packs installation
| In our download page, in ProDAD / Service Pack, select Service Pack you want to download, for this tutorial we chose Adorage (take care and choose the correct service pack, for some applications, two versions exists). |
| You reach the page ProDAD Adorage - Service Pack, choose "Download Service". In this case, download Service 3.x if you own Adorage Volume 10 (which correspond to V3) or Service 2.x if you do not own Volume 10 (in such case, you are running V2). |
| The download process starts, click "Run" when you have this window. |
| From there, several screens scroll up until this window appears, click "Install now". |
| By clicking "Setup", the installation proceeds. |
You reach the Welcome window, click "Next".
In the next screens you must accept the license agreement and select the installation language.
And you get to this window, but before you click "Start installation procedure, check that you have: C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Studio14\Plugins\RTFX in the list (or similar file path depending of your system).
The installation is finished with this window, click "Finish".
WARNING: it's necessary to repeat this procedure (step 3) with Heroglyph, VitaScene and Mercalli. Once done, you have proDAD plugins installed, as well as all other previously listed plugins (see the end of the tutorial for the full list). Last step, with the installation of the plugin Boris Graffiti. Step 4 - Boris Graffiti installation
| Insert Studio 14 DVD, in the "Installer" window of Studio 14 click on "Transfer Content. |
| The wizard window opens, click "Next". |
| In this window answer "Yes" and check "Studio 11", then "Next" (I know, Boris is present on S12 DVD...). |
Back to the "Installer" window, you can insert your Studio 12 DVD Boris install.
But do not let the CD autorun start by itself.
For this, as soon as you insert the CD into the drive, you hold down "Shift" key (the one with the up arrow) to open the folder and view files using Windows Explorer.
Under the root of the CD, you have 4 folders. Open the folder Graffiti and to get this window, you must double click on the program "Setup.exe" located in the folder Graffiti. If you do not perform this procedure, you will not be able to repair Boris Graffiti.
In this window, select "Repair" then "Next".
| The Boris Graffiti installation begins. |
When you have this window, click "Change".
Some users reported that they do not see this window.
Its because they did not prevent the automatic CD installation as explained now previously.
| Then in that window in C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Studio12\Plugins\RTFX, change the "2" of Studio 12 by a "4" for Studio 14. |
| You get this and click "Ok". |
| In this window, you are confirmed that Boris Graffiti Studio will be installed in 14, then "Next". |
| Boris moves to Studio 14. |
| This installation is now complete, click "Finish". |
You're back to the "Installer" window, restart the "Transfer Content".
| The wizard window opens, click "Next". |
| After the wizard window, you reach this window, click "Next". |
The transfer takes place.
| Boris Graffiti is now in Studio 14, once again you get in the "Install" window but this time click "Exit." |
Step 5 - third parties plugins installationFor JPs effects, WL Filter as well as BS Effects (see our link page, video plugins section), there are some file manipulations to do on fex and xml files. I urge you to backup your system before any modification. Plugins are usually installed with .fex and .xml files extension. you will normally find in folder: C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Studio 12\Plugins\RTFx the JPsEffects.fex file and in folder: C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Studio 12\Plugins\RTFx\XML multiples .xml files (like for example JPEColorAdjust.xml, JPEColorGlow.xml, ...). You will copy the .fex as well as all .xml that you wish to transfer, into Studio 14 folder:
In C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Studio 14\Plugins\RTFx the .fex file and all .xml files in the folder C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Studio 14\Plugins\RTFx\XML. Repeat the above procedure for each desired plugin. That's it, Studio 14 is installed, all the plugins too, now you only have to open Studio 14 and have fun. Audio and video plugins available and fully functionnal in Studio 14: Step 6 - And what can be done if nothing above work ?You can try the "lucky batch file" that we propose... Do not be too enthusiastic, it does not solve all problem, but it will help you to transfer plugins which were not transferred with the transfer content. This batch file, created by Le Papy has been intensively tested by Francis57 who did not hesitate to modify his configuration at several occasions for the numerous tests. Why a batch file ? A batch file (or .bat) is a small executable file, which can transfer step by step your S12 plugins to S14. Contrary to other executable files (like .exe), you can edit it with notepad (right click, edit) and you can see what is inside. This way, you see the programming and you can know what will happen to your system. Even if the code seems to be hard to understand, you will see each step, and you won't be frighten by any strange manipulation, you won't be afraid that this tool erase your whole computer system ! With a batch file, you know what's happening (if you download it on our website). Let's have a look to the batch file in detail, it: - checks Studio 12 presence (on C:/);
- checks Studio 14 presence (on C:/);
- creates a working directory in the root of your hard drive;
- copy all files used by Studio 12 for its plugins (copied in the working directory);
- add only useful files from the working directory to Studio 14 directory, without erasing most recent files with the same name;
- delete the working directory.
Reminder :
Before launching the batch file, be sure to: - backup your computer, so you can restore it in case of any problem;
- with Windows Vista, you will need to open an administrator session to run the batch file and it is strongly adviced to disable the UAC;
- do not forget to close all running applications before launching the batch;
- double click on the batch file (or right clic --> open).
- follow on screen explanations.
After running the batch file, you open Studio 14 and you will find all your Studio 12 plugins (if you did not delete Studio 12 beforehand... ) Two batch files exist, depending of your operating system: - TransPlug-S12-S14-XP-Vis32.bat for XP and Vista32
- TransPlug-S12-S14-Vis64-Win7.bat for Vista 64 and Win7
Do not hesitate, jump to the download page - HFX section. Note: In some cases, files of Studio 12 are newer than Studio 14. It's not very logical but it can happen. In such a case the batch program asks if you want to replace this Studio 14 file by the Studio 12 file that is newer.
As a precaution, you answer NO (letter n) for each request for replacement. |

Hey guys, thank you for great work in explaining installation and transfer procedures!! I have a question though: I have the 12.1v of Pinnacle with the premium packs (Magic Bullets, ProDad, etc.) and also the SpiceMaster 2.5 PRO (Pixelan). I've read pretty much everything and anything I need to know to igrate all contents but this one. Do you guys know if this add on will be compatible with the Studio 14? Cuz it's got some seriously nice effects and transitions that I'd like to keep and be able to use in my new SUC14. So? Any comments??

Hi, Thank you for these exellent tutorials. So far I have one question, the version I work with is S12 ulttimate. I still have version 10 and 11 discs available. During installation of S12 I did transfer a few goodies from S10 and/or S11 but not all. My intention is to do a complete new installation of S14 ult. collection + what is needed from S10 / S11. What should I do (apart from what has been described in your tutorial) to get the most out of S14 including what is worthwile to transfer from S10 / S11 ? Thanks for your reaction. Best regards Niek |

Thanks Gert !!
@ Carolina, I never heard about SpiceMaster, and I have never used it. So I have NO IDEA... If you try, please keep us informed ??
@ Niek, I would recommend to proceed as follows: 1- add all content from S10/S11, and buy it through S10/S11 (if you did not already buy it). 2- If previous step works well, you can upgrade by following our tutorial, you should not have any problem. If you process in another way, I am frighten that you can not unlock the S10/S11 content from S14. Hope it answer your question, otherwise do not hesitate to come back with a new question.

Hello,
Thanks for your advice. In the mean time I have installed S14 without removing S12. Some plug-ins are available in S14 now others not yet, like Boris Grafiitti and the Prodad effects. Will use your tutorial to cope with those.
Many thanks for all your help which is much appreciated.
Best regards Niek |

I have upgraded to Studio 14 from 12. although Studio 14 accepted the activation key for Prodad Adorage, and I can see all the Adorage transitions, I am still a 'prodad watermark' on the movie. Please help. |
