Created on Saturday, August 11, 2007 10:27 PM |  | After you have created an HFX effect or after the installation of an HFZ file, you discover that your thumbnail transitions do not appear correctly in the list of transitions in HFX Pinnacle Studio, they are black.
No need to panic, sometimes Pinnacle Studio and the Easy FX Editor get mixed up... The following procedure will help you to restore everything. - Open Pinnacle Studio
- Put two clips on the timeline
- Apply one of the Déclic Vidéo transition between your two clips
- Double click on the transition
- Click on the EDIT button to open Easy FX Editor
- Do not do anything in Easy FX Editor, just close it
- Close Studio
When you re-open Studio, your Declic Video transitions thumbnail should be there and displayed correctly. Windows Vista users: take note that you must be logged in administrator mode and it is strongly advised to turn off UAC (User Account Control) when running the batch file (in order to regenerate the HfxXML folder) *and* when running Studio. |

After trying this 3 times the thumbnails are still black, so this doen't work with me. |

Same here, but after emptying the folder:
Program Files\Studio11\Plugins\RTFx\HfxXML
All worked fine! |

Thanks Rini for the confirmation. This is also what is explained in our Tip-1 "HFX effects do not appear in Studio". Tip-1 and Tip-2 must be frequently applied all together.

And again I followed your instructions and also emptied the folder HfxXML, but nothing changed and most of the thumbnails are still black. I also have some double transitions and some other transitions have another name as that they should be. Strange. |

If you have Vista + S11 you may encounter some problems. I will soon provide a solution. If you can test it, that would be great, I have just sent you an email....

JUST DO WHAT HE SAID, AND DELETE ALL THE CONTECTS OF THAT FOLDER
C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Studio 11\Plugins\RTFx\HfxXML
THIS ALSO FIXED A PROBLEM THAT HAPPENED EVERTIME I INSTALLED NEW TRANSITIONS
NOT BLACK JUST WRONG THUMBNAILS WOULD SHOW..
NOW THE PROBLEM IS FIXED
COME ON PINNACLE JUST MAKE A SMALL PATCH TO AUTOMATICLY DELTE THSE FILES AFTER ANY HFX INSTALL
OR SOME1 MAKE THIS... PLESE

Many thanks for this tips!
Using Vista + S11 and following the instruction Tip 1+ 2 all thumbnails are now correct. The only thing, there are no re- created files shown in the folder C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Studio 11\Plugins\RTFx\HfxXML after starting Studio. What are that files for?
By the way, is anyone out there who can help me to get a free audio plugin working. I used it in S9 and S11 shows it as premium content.

I too am having trouble with blacked out icons for Declic Transitions...some are black some are ok..I've tried tip number one and number two...
In tip number two when I click on the edit button it tries to sell me HFX Creator Pro Activation Key and takes me to a web site where I have to purchase a KEy...so this tip is not working for me...tip number one works fine...but not number two |

Hi-I would really appreciate your help. I am a new user of Pinnacle Studio so I really need some guidance!!! I have installed Pinnacle Studio10.6
I have there Standard Transitions+HFX Volume 1+HFX Volume 2.
In addition to that I have some transitions that were donwloaded and given to me. My question is why can`t I see them in Studio but in Easy FX Editor they appear blank and crash when I press on them? Is there a way to make them work or am I fighting for nothing here? Thank you very much! Oh-I tried to do the RTFX and the XFXXML thing...didn`t help...thanks again! |

In order to let work the Vol1 and 2 you need to buy them first.
However a crash, even when you didn't buy these volumes is not normal.

First of all-thank you-but the 1st and 2nd volumes are working perfectly fine-what I meant was that the ones not working are those given to me on a CD by a friend-but they work fine on his computer-maybe I`m just putting it in the wrong directory or failing to do something else...any ideas? Thank you! |

In order to install HFX-transitions you need to:
Double click on HFZ-files (these are installation files)
Then you will see the installation on your screen, but you can see the directories where the files are installing at the same time.
It is possible that you don 't see the installed files because they where installing in an other location as usual. So the best is installing one again, and see on the screen the exact location(s) of installing.

And what if my hfz files have no program associated to them-and neither do my hfo files...
Whatdo I associate them with?

Tried your 2 step fix and all transitions came up with the correct thumbnails. Thanks Much! Now how do I get my two CDs of Hollywood FX thumbnails to show up in Studio 12 Ultimate? Pinnacle has had me uninstalling and reinstalling Studio. I have tried deleting two files suggested on their fourm, but that didn't work either. If these additional 800 transitions were in there I think that I would see them. The two volumes do show up in the Control Panel Remove programs area but don't show up in Studio. Any ideas?

PS: Try to read our latest article concerning Studio 12 and the transfer content wizard (if you use transfer content wizard, you will be able to transfer your HFX and see them in Studio...) Please do not continue the discussion here. Thanks. |

Hello ScrdadPro, this tip should solve your problem, in conjunction with "Tip-1 HFX effects do not appear in Studio" (try also running the Repare-HFX batch file - to be downloaded into our download page)
