Recently, a Studio user submitted the following problem : "A plugin is applied to a clip, now I would like to have the same plugin with the same settings on several clips, how should I proceed ?"

The solution we offer (there may be others ...), allows you to change the parameters of selected clips, whether they are contiguous or not. We will use the new Studio version 12.0 for this tutorial. For the tutorial we will choose a plugin Colour Correction, but the method applies to an audio effect as well. Take note that older Studio version are also compatible with this tip & trick.

Step 1 :
Parameters chosen for the clip reference
  1. Add the Color Correction filter to the clip and apply the appropriate settings;
Step 2 :
Selection of other clips contiguous or not
  1. Select the other clips. whether they are contiguous or not;

Reminder :

  • To select some clips: Select the desired clips holding the CTRL key and clicking on each of the clips you want.
  • To select contiguous clips: Select the first clip, hold down the Shift key and click the last.
Step 3 :
The default settings are applied to selected clips
  1. We then apply the same effect that was applied to the original clip using the default settings;
Step 4 :

The clip reference is added to the selection

  1. Add the reference clip to the selection by holding down the CTRL key and clicking the reference clip;
Step 5 :
Transmission parameters of the clip as a reference for other selected clips
  1. At this point the parameters of the reference clip are shown. Then just slightly modify one of the parameter and all the selected clips will change to the value of the reference clip.

Thanks to Serge Gastineau for his excellent question...

Before asking this question, I suppose that you tried...

It shouldn't interfere with keyframes. But honestly, what are you interested in that?
