PS 16.0.1 Update

Release of a patch for Pinnacle Studio 16 - Download link

In november, Pinnacle released a patch (read Download Pinnacle Studio patch 16.0.1). Now, a new patch is available to udpate to version 16.1.0.115. Pinnacle recommends installing the update for all users.
Warning: once installed, the Pinnacle Studio 16 Update cannot be uninstalled separately, but only with a complete uninstall of the full Pinnacle Studio 16 installation.

There are several new features (non-exhaustive list) :

  • Navigating with the mouse wheel frame by frame or at a higher speed depending on the zoom level of the timeline
  • Creation of a attachable/detachable navigation bar in the compact library
  • Direct export to Box.com from the File menu
  • A new button in the titler editor to automatically adjust the size of the text characters according to the size of the text layer

I know some people have written of problems on the Pinnacle forum...but I found that this patch solved a lot of the problems I had.

After installing the 16.0.1 update I cannot access Pinnacle at all. I get a runtime error. This happens even after I had to uninstall Pinnacle and reinstall, rendering the use of the software to useless.

Be advised before you install this update.

Am I correct in assuming that the first patch (16.0.1) does NOT need to be installed before the latest patch (16.1.0.115)?

You are absolutely correct.
16.1.0.115 include the 16.0.1 corrective.


@ Glenn,
If you have problem with the patch, you can't uninstall it, you need to uninstall the whole Pinnacle stuff !

when we add a video effect we should select a part, it is easy to edit if we can drag and drop a effect on a 10 sec. portion any where of 5 minute long clip and flexibility to edit the length of effect.

I cannot install the 16.1 patch. My Windows 8 (64 Bit) tells me that the pinnacle "CAB" file has not been digitally signed and thus my be damaged. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello Juerg,

This usually means that you moved your installation files, and the patch does not find the path which is in the registry. Uninstall, and re-install, but do not move the installation file once installed. Then, start the patch again.

Since installing the most recent patch 16.0.1.00115 I cannot import any files into the library - only read the files which were there before installing the patch. Any suggestions on what I should tweak to fix this annoying glitch?

I have just bought a computer with windows 8. I loaded my pinnacle studio 500-pci up and it won't work it said there are some compatibility issues. This is the error message: (Studio.exe - Entry Point Not Found) The procedure entry point MpHeapReAlloc could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files (x86)\Pinnacle\Studio10\programs\vafzu.DLL.
I would lke to know if there is a fix to this problem ?

Hi, I just installed the latest patch for Studio16 Ultimate (16.1.0.115) and now have a purple cast to imported video? This problem was not there previously, and to prove it I uninstalled everything, re-installed the basic v16 and all was well again. What gives? I have the Ultimate upgrade version. More annoyingis I cannot contact Corel support as it won't recognise the serial number, and the "about" dialog box in v16 patch version does not show the serial number despite Corel asking for it. What is with these companies that refuse to support their products? In Australia under current consumer law they must support when the product is faulty!

Hi, I have discovered an issue with v16 studio. (16.1.0.115) It appears to be with the 3d settings on the preview window which does not have a 2d box to check e.g., Left Eye, Right Eye, Side by Side, Differential, Checkerboard, 3D TV Side by Side (default) and Anaglyph. This is accessed by a small dialog window to the left of the Loop symbol. I do not understand these settings or their application!
Has anyone else figured them out?

Trying to install patch 16.1 gives an error saying: "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and taht you have the correct upgrade patch."
The message is, of course, nonsense, I suspect some version clash with other software (Visual something....).
Can anybody help?

Hola ! cuanto abro pinnacle 16, solo a clickear sobre cualquier cosa del programa (ejemplo escogo a una foto) me aparece esta pantalla y no puedo hacer nada. si clickeo en aceptar se me desaparece pinnacle como si escogo la x, se me borra todo. por favor alguien me puede ayudar. abajo esta escrito en la ventana de error que me aparece.

I still have the same issue with installing the 16.10. Patch, i.e. after extracting the installation files the process stops with a Windows Installer error message saying:
"The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch."
And no, I did not move any installation files, I simply downloaded the patch and started it.
Any suggestions?

...and by the way, I am running Win7 Home Premium with the original Windows Installer that came with it, i.e. msi.dll has file/product version 5.0.7601.17807.

Problem solved, I just removed and re-installed the entire Studio 16 Suite. The re-install automatically installed the latest version, very smart!

I was happy using Studio 16 for the last twelve months but now everything has gone wrong. Firstly the system has ground to a halt when i try to edit video from my new H264 camera, i am getting red lines on the edit timeline and transitions will not work. I have just upgraded using the 16.01.0 patch and now the programme fails to start " NGStudio failed". I have uninstalled the lot and re installed from the disc and the problem remains, how can i delete the upgrade patch, is it somewhere in the registry ?
I fear that my hard earned cash is now wasted on this software which is a shame as it produced good results before. My sytem is Win7, 4gb ram, intel quad core which is sufficient for the task... Help 😣😣😣

My Studio 16 won't open. I uninstalled and then reinstalled and ran the patch and it still says "PinnacleStudio has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly" Suggestions?
