Download Pinnacle Studio 17 patch

Release of a patch for Pinnacle Studio 17 - Download link

After release of Pinnacle Studio 17, and two patches, a third patch is available. Pinnacle recommends installing the update for all users.

--> Click here to download Pinnacle Studio 17.1 patch <--

It concerns Pinnacle Studio 17, Pinnacle Studio 17 plus as well as Pinnacle Studio 17 ultimate. The download for the patch is free for all users who already bought Pinnacle Studio 17.

The list of improvements announced by Pinnacle :

  • Support for 4K UltraHD (for Studio Ultimate)
  • Updated Smart Encoding.
  • Improved performance when Library contains thousands of media files.
Note:  Installation of this patch resets your library settings.
  • Multiple Stability Improvements.

The real big news is the arrival of 4K that was promised by Pinnacle for December. Better late than never!
The rest seems to be a repetition of the previous patch.

At the time of this writing we know nothing more about adding 4K within Studio. We will get back to you as soon as possible regarding this matter.

Since and above, you should know that :

  • there is no longer sharing of the library and the plugins directory with PS16
  • cache of PS17 is now in C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Pinnacle_Studio_17 and no more C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Pinnacle\Studio\17.0
  • 4K export in .mts is available
  • smart rendering in .mts is active but still buggy

Le Papy inform us that the library is not reconstructed with this latest version if you already upgraded to before. ;-)

Le Papy informs us that he download the update in 3 minutes and installed it in 4 minutes.
He did not see any library reconstruction, that's a good point (he was already with S17.0.2.137).

But don't be too enthusiastic, this version does not solve the major bug recently discovered (glitch with end of each clips when assembling AVCHD H264 1080i clips...) Now, Checking if we have the Smart Rendering working or not...

TonyP, to answer your question on previous article:

I did not have time to make an article to explain the bug, I am waiting other moderator to confirm the problem (seems that it is confirmed).

Take some footage AVCHD H264 1080i, put them on the timeline. Do *NOT* cut them (or if you do so, only remove the beginning of the clip, never the end). Render 1080i H264, and watch the result...
You will have some duplicated frames between each clips (between 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 3rd, etc...)
It's reproduced by some of us, those who do not see it, it's because either they cut the end of the clip, or did not look correctly to the resulting clip (in such case, put the clip on Studio timeline and you will see that you have duplicated frame...).

Which makes S17.1 just unusable if you don't cut the end of all your clips... Ouchhhhhhhh
This one is a major stopper, with others bugs you can live with it or found alternative... But if you have to assemble plenty of sequences, this is just impossible...

Thanks. I will test the footage with my camera which records in that format and see.

I have the pinnacle studio 17 ultimate, but I am slowly learning the tutorials that are on this page Déclic Video which are very good for learning to edit, but one question I want to do, it is necessary to install the patch
pinnacle studio? to edit my videos and what is the benefit. Thank you.

If you've previously already patched your PS17, the only thing you get with the new patch is 4K feature. If you never applied any patch, the new patch includes many bugs fixes.

Hy, I had the same problem(duplicated frames between each clips) with studio16, and I resolved it excluding the HW acceleration in "preview configuration panel". I have intel i7 3770 and NVidia GFX660.
Now I have a big problem with studio17: it doesn't import MTS AVCHD progressive 50fps (by Panasonic Lumix); when importing, studio hangs for hours and hours...
