In volumes FX 2 and FX 3 I am now getting in many cases WITHIN a transition a PARTIAL image whereby a PORTION is represented with the words " MEDIA NOT AVAILABLE " ? I did uninstall FX 3 and reinstalled it with the same results . I think something may have gone wrong a few months ago when I installed your transitions and I had a bit of difficulties doing it but it worked out and they are ok . I have not gone into 2 and 3 since then so I did not know if there was anything wrong . I also looked through all the knowledge bases and found nothing . Any help would be appreciated !!

Hello Gert,
First be assured that it is not linked to our transition. There is no relation between both problems. If you have a "MEDIA NOT AVAILABLE", it's just because it has been removed (partial installation) ?? It might happen that a DVD become corrupted, and your installation is partial ? I would suggest you get in touch with Pinnacle to receive a new DVD.

The issue would not be related to a DVD/CD problem since both volumes 1 & 2 where installed and working fine ! The problem is that only some transitions within each volume show a partial " MEDIA NOT AVAILABLE " ?

The problem is resolved by running my Studio 12 in a " repair " mode ! I will send you screen shots of the problem for your records !

I have recently Installed Studio 12 + on a new i7 PC and have successfully installed Hollywood Fx Vol 1 the transfer content program and the Studio 11 plus bonus disc. I have installed Hfx Editor ver 6.0 supplied with Studio ver 10 plus. This setup is working well. My problem comes when I install compressed HFZ files Using the repair batch file downloaded from the DV site all of the files I have installed (decompressed) have shown up in the Declic Video folder and have worked correctly. My problem is that although the files decompress and are available from within Studio 12+ (in the Declic folder), the installed files do not show up when I run the Fx editor in the standalone mode. On previous systems (XP) when decompressing an HFZ file it would become part of my Studio program and also available in the stand alone editor. Currently when in Studio I am able to insert an Fx from the DV folder into my project and then by double clicking on it I can go to the edit mode and make changes, however after exiting Studio and starting the editor in standalone mode there is no Declic Video folder and the decrompressed file is not available.
Can you help ?

Hello Mick B,
According to Le Papy answer (translated by myself): On your computer, you should still have Hollywood FX V5, and you are probably launching Hollywood FX V5 standalone version instead of Hollywood FX V6. If you see transitions within Studio 12, it means that they are present in HFX V6. So, if you open HFX V6 instead of V5, you should see them. Try it please...

Thank you for your reply, I have also replied on the Studio Forum. I can confirm for you that I am running FX Editor Ver 6 I do not have Version 5 on my new computer !!!
My FX Editor version 6 came with Studio 10 plus and I have previously purchased an Activation key which I have regenerated and entered under Studio 12+ on the new computer. Do I need to enter any special licence number directly into the FX Editor program ?

Hello Mick B,
Here is Le Papy answer (sorry for being late in answering, Le Papy is always fast, I am just a little bit long to translate and to visit our website these days....)
No need to install HFX V6 with the installation disk (for your information, if you install it, you will have a folder called C:\Programmes\Pinnacle\Hollywood FX for Studio\6.0). Under Vista and Seven, transitions are not in this folder anymore. You can delete this folder which is useless. With Studio 12 (Vista or Seven), HFX V6 is installed in C:\Users\Documents publics\Pinnacle\Content\Hollywood FX (as well as images, objects, ....). While decompressig a new transition, it's automatically installed in this folder, and it is seen by Studio 12.
Consequently, on your computer, you probably have TWO HFX V6 (two easy_fx.exe software). You probably do not run the correct one... Try it and keep us informed.

Thank you for your excellent reply. You are correct I have found the 2 installations which you have mentioned.
Under my W7 installation the version which I had linked to as a standalone version of the editor was located in: C:\Program files(x86)\Pinnacle\Hollywood FX\6.0
Following your instructions I located the correct one in: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Pinnacle\Contents\Hollywood FX
Now I am running the editor in this directory the 11 HFZ files I have decompressed are showing correctly in the "00-Declic Video" Thank you for your excellent advice.
As a additional note, when I am working in S12+ and I am going into the Hfx listing I have two (2) folders with the name Declic Video. One folder is showing immediately under the heading of "Hfx Vol 1" This folder contains 2 of the decompressed HFZ files
The second folder is shown at the end of the Hfx listings (under my "Custom" folder). This folder contains the remaining 9 HFZ files which I have decompressed. This is NOT a problem for me as all of the Fx work correctly, but I was curious, why there are two (2) folders.
Thank you again for your response Mick

Hello Mick B,
Before Le Papy left for 5 months holidays, he left the following note: You probably modified a HFX transition (from Volume 1), by saving it into Declic Video FX folder. Then, when you use our batch file, which rebuild the HFX, the transition is moved to HFX Volume 1. That might be one explanation. There is also another possibility: you might have download or kept very old version of our HFX file, in such case, just delete it and download the new collection (packs are available, from 001-100, 101-200, and 201-...)

I have read all of the pages and cannot find an answer to the error message I am receiving. "Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel." I have Pinnacle 14, Avid Studio, and Pinnacle 16 on my computer. SInce I have a previous version (PS14) I should see the thumbnails in the program if it is already installed. I do not have thumbnails in any of my programs. Can you help me with this error?

1. Problems installing your HFX files on Win7 64-bit PC. Referring to Step1.5 above: this not correct with Studio 16. There is no "Bonus Content Install MSi file, only Studio16 MSI file. When I get request to install Installation Disc, I do (with UAC off) I get Fatal error notice every time.
2. I have found three "InstallHFZ.exe" files. 1) File Ver 6.5.203.0; Prod Ver 6.5.0.196 2) File Ver 6.5.211.0; Prod Ver 6.5.0.197 and 3) File Ver 6.5.0.178; Prod Ver 6.5.0.178, can you tell me which one I should use with 378-Videowall?

Hello Bill,
On my system, I only have File Ver 6.5.0.178 Nothing else, that's strange that you have newer version. Try this one and keep us informed.

Bill,
Can you also try the following: instead of a double click on the HFZ file, drag and drop the hfz file on InstallHFZ.exe which is normally located in C:\User\Public\Documents publics\Pinnacle\Content\HollywoodFX. You should not have the message asking for the DVD.
Try it and keep us informed, DV FX

I will also post to the other site.I am using BPS18 , ended up having to do the drag and drop into InstallHFZ. The reason I am posting is that first HFX files I downloaded was a group of ten of the ones above 360. I installed each one individually and all went well. Than I decompressed the three other folders and went to install the 1st ten and suddenly got that error message, need path to folder containg the installation package "PinnacleStudio.msi" , for the first time. I will try the registry fix. I've got to wonder if those here grasp what an understanding of logic and lack of fear that those like Saby,Losecanon and others here have.

The registry fix did it. It turned out I only had to rename one comand,it went ahead and changed the second registry comand name. After that I reopened the file with the decompressed files made InstallHfz the default program and started loading files. After I finished I copied the XML files to the HFXDVFX folder, after a little while the thumbnails showed up . Since I used the 64 bit version there is nothing Pinnacle in the X86 folder. However this makes no difference when it comes to the above instructions, i.e. just subsitue program file wherever it says X86 program files.

Hi,I read your coments and it was the updated tutorials I used,I even renamed the comand to "Comand Old" as suggested, and it worked. I had no previously installed effects as I had to do a clean re install of the OS. I only have PS 18 on my machine. If I re-install PS 16 can I migrate the Red Giant effects into 18? It still isn't perfect but the 64 bit version is so stable compared to previous versions. I have over 46 mins of 5 -30 sec clips all with somekind of correction effect and it barely bogs down and thats with an older 6 core AMD.
