These four new effects have the common trait of containing a frame for each view. By design, the frame of each view is black but it's very easy to change it to a white frame depending on the dominant color of the images.

Step 1 : Design effects

Each effect includes three views:

  • 2 views each occupy a quarter of the screen;
  • 1 view which occupies half of the screen.

Depending on the chosen effect, the view that occupies half the screen is at the bottom, top, right or left of the screen.

Let's quickly take a look at the tree effect :

The HFX effect as supplied with the black frame visible

By default, the frame is black. The parameter which allows the modification is marked on the screenshot:

  1. Select the Flat A 2 1 object which is the media for the white frame,
  2. You will notice that the fade parameter is set to 100% Therefor the object is not visible on the screen.
The fadeout parameter set to 0 displays the white box
  1. Select the Flat A 2 1 object;
  2. Change the setting for the fadeout.

For the white frame to replace the black frame, simply move the fader setting from 100 to 0. The white frame will then overlap the black frame.

Step 2 : Working in Studio

These effects should be used as plugins and not as transitions. They must be applied to a clip using the Pinnacle video effect HFX Filter . The tutorial Add a logo, a title and an overlay image using a single video track covers all details of its implementation in Studio.

You can then, from Studio, edit the effect. Image A will be the clip on which the effect is applied. Images B and 3 can be replaced either by still pictures or video in .AVI format. For more details, read our tutorial "Using the HFX effect 312-finale..

Changing the supported media in HFX effect

To change the supported media :

  1. Select the object corresponding to Host Video 2 or 3;
  2. Click on the Media folder;
  3. Select your media in the window that opens.

You can select a photo or a video (. AVI format is preferred).

Of course, when you edit the effect, you can edit all parameters :

  • zoom on each view, with or without keyframes;
  • change the framing of views, with or without keyframes;
  • change the color of the frame during the effect, one or more times using keyframes ...

You can then make something that looks like this :

If you understood the mechanism and if you have photo editing software, you can even easily turn the white or black frames into orange, candy pink, green almond, lemon yellow or just about any other color of your choice that is not edible.
