hi, I downloaded the free hollywood effects and it shows in easy effects editor but not in my transitions. yes when i did the same with unlock weddings 2 and 3 and sports that has worked fine. where in studio 11 ultimate might be the downloaded transtions be stored please. in the effects editor its listed as in declic but in studio there is no such categorie.

Bill, the transitions should appear in Studio at the bottom, just before 3rd party transitions. Apply strictly the information provided in this tutorial. You can also try the "Tip-2 My HFX thumbnails in Studio are black", it will help you to solve the problem.

I just began using S-11 plus after many years with S 9. While loooking for answers to some questions I came accross the Declic site and am very glad I did.
I just downloaded some HFx files and followed procedure to install. When I ran Studio they did not show up n my transitions list so I followed the above procedure. I doing so I found a few things that I need to ask.
Will I have to follow this procedure everytime I download and install new files?
When I tried to use the Hfxrepair.bat for Windows XP I found the batch file to be incorrect. The original script had the following line in it:
cd\documents and settings\all users\documents\programs\pinnacle\studio 11\programs\plugins\RTFx
when in fact the correct line for my system is:
cd\documents and settings\all users\documents\pinnacle\studio 11\programs\plugins\RTFx
The originsl line had an extra "\programs\" in it.
Just want to pass this along.

Yes, unfortunately, you will have to follow this procedure everytime you download a new transition. For the time being, no other possibility (if we find a solution, we will inform you through the newsletter, do not hesitate to subscribe).
For the path, it is maybe due to your installation, as we have tested it on various configuration and the path is correct. I have just checked it again. I use the bat file for my own use daily.

If I open up declic transitions or david star transitions with hfx 5.5 they all work correctly but in version 6 the do not work. I tried the above instructions and I trie coping the images and effects of version 5.5 into v6. most of the declic are working none of david star fx are working. Any suggestions? Thanks Candace

Please take note of the revised batch file available for Studio 11 and Studio 10 (if you run Windows Vista). I am using Studio 11 ultimate and I downloaded some free HFX transitions.
The problem is that they appear in section Declic but they are not visible - every window for each transition is black. So I have to open all windows to find the one that I want. Thanks for your answer.

Hello. I have Pinnacle Studio Plus 11. I had the serial for a few packs of the HFX. But when I entered them it did say: Ripples and Circles HFX are now unlocked. I tried your thing here and they still didnt appear. So I am very puzzled. Please help.

I'm using Studio 11.0.0.5082 (I know I should upgrade). When I go to the Hollywood FX directory and double click on Easy_FX.exe it give me a dialog box that states that Easy FX Standalone Editor has stopped working (Vista).
On another computer I'm running XP and the Easy_FX.exe opens fine.
Any suggestions?

I think I discovered the problem. Apparently HFX is not automatically associated with all of Studio 11 install apps. You have to go to the directory where HFX is located and click on the HFXSerial.exe and enter in the key you got when you registered the product.
A little strange but..
I would suggest that Pinnacle in the future have a method of getting to the FX editor from the main studio it just seems logical.

Studio and Easy FX Editor are already linked together (associated). Otherwise, we would have make a tips & tricks por tutorial. I assume that you have some installation problem. I would be very grateful if you can join one of the forum mentionned on the home page, you will have many people ready to help you sovling your specific problem. As far as I know, you do not encounter any problems with the tutorial here.

Hi, I have Studio 11 Plus release 11.00.5082.
I have installed all your free transitions but while I see all of them in Fx Editor, I have just a few in Studio11. I have investigaed in FAQ and tried all suggested solutions:
- reinstall code
- cancel EffectCache and EditorCache files
- cancel all items in HfxXML fold but not improved the situation.
- I have also tryed to cancel AlbumOrg.org and Effect.org
- I have also tried with Fx-Editor saving the transition with a different name in a different folder but nothing to do.
I have tryed to change the transition using HFX editor in Studio. It changes and allows me the transition I selected but it keeps on not being shown in the Studio transition window
Where did I miss ?
(in Studio9 and Studio10 everything was perfect)

I have reinstalled all the transitions directly from the webpage (not saving in my pc (as before) then installing the same once saved) and, don't ask me why, once cleaned EffectCache, EditorCache and HfxXML, I have all the transitions.

Each time I save a custom transition in FX for Studio 6, another icon for it show up in my custom transitions folder, e.g. if I save one called MyTransition and later modify it and save it, there are 2 icons shown. Each time I save it another shows up. If I delete one of them, they are all deleted. How do I clean up the folder that is displayed?

We are about to publish a FAQ related to cleaning HFX (deleting a HFX in fact). In the meantime, I propose that each time you save a transition, you use "SAVE" instead of "SAVE AS", it will avoid duplicate entry. Stay tuned through the newsletter for the "HFX FAQ - How to delete HFX".

I'm trying to organized my transition. In FX everything moves in my folders the way I placed them but when I open Studio It will make three folder from my one. One for each volume. How can I avoid this.?

Sorry for answering so late... Some people have the same problem than you, and currently nobody found a solution. We may ask Remy Felhmann or Markk655 to have a look to it, they are a king for this kind of problems !
In general, it won't happen if you do not rename the HFX. If you rename them and use a number lower than the latest HFX i nyour collection, you may experience this problem. Nevertheless, it is not systematic.

There is currently a known problem of Pinnacle. The installation of Studio 12 goes well if Studio 11 was uninstalled. Pinnacle is trying to find a solution to install Studio 12 even with Studio 11 already installed. It is expected that Pinnacle is the solution.

If you have Hollywood version 5 and 6 on the same computer it means you have Studio 9 installed beside studio 11.
Wich operating system you have?
Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista?
I supose that you have Vista, I think that Hollywood 5.0 does not work with vista, and that makes you see the effects in Hollywood 6 and not in Hollywood 5

Gracias Etienne, Mi sistema operativo es Windows Xp con Sp2, nunca he instalado studio 9, tengo studio 11, los HFX 5 son los pro y los del mega pack, ademas de los declic que se instalan dentro de studio pero en una carpeta diferente a los HFX6, y son los que no puedo ver en studio 11. Ademas cuando utilizo un hfz este se descomprime pero terminando da un error sobre todo con los objetos. Espero que me puedan enterder. Mil gracias

Can anyone tell me, I have Hollywood FX basic, version 6, all transitions are visible and usable in that, but when I try to open them in Studio11, they all have a watermark in the center, or they just don't appear at all. Can I make them work in Studio, since they are in FX I shouldn't have to buy them again, right?

Please have a look to the "HFX FAQ" page, there are plenty of good stuff and answers there. You should be able to resolve your problem. Take note:
- download only HFX marked as [HFX Basic]
- download the "unlock xxx" which will add HFX
- download and replace your InstallHFZ.exe file (adding HFX as well)
All packages are present on our website.
If you still have problems, please use one of the forums mentionned on the home page.

Dear Sir,
I purchased Avid Liquid 7 Pro from a reputable stockist about 17 months ago.
When I bought the software it came with The Avid Liquid Big Splash Bundle.
This included
Title.Deko Pro
Hollywood FX Pro
Magic Bullet Movie Looks
The unlock serial codes do not seem to work and although I have sent various emails to Avid, they do not seem to have solved the problem so far. Their email thread system times out after 48 hours and it takes forever to explain what I thought would be a simple solution to them.
They did however give me a new code for Title Deko Pro which is now working.
I can not get the effects working (ie Hollywood FX and others) or Smartsound or Magic Bullet.
Can you please help me?

Hi,
I just upgraded to Studio 12 and uninstalled studio 11 then I installed the HFX 6.0.
The HFX 6.0 Transitions still don't appear in the transitions tab after using the Repare-HFX-S12-XP.bat batch file.
I tried to manually delete the files mentioned but the EffectCache.xxxxxx and EditorCache.xxxxx are not in the specified directory. I deleted the contents of the hfxxml anyway and when I ran studio 12, the transitions still did not appear.
What did I do wrong? Please help!

Hi there,
I have been reading (and applying) all your tips and tricks. But I still have some problems. I am using Studio plus 12 with vista. And I have installed the bonus CD from studio 10. I have used studio 8,9 and 10 on another PC.
After your tips I am able to see the transitions I have downloades from the declic site (eg flags), but I still cannot see all the other series. Like family, sports etc. I can not even see the locked transitions and when I go to the Pinnacle site (more transitions) it seems like there is not anything to download (which is true, because I have installed the Bonus CD).
I hope my story makes sense to you. The biggest problem is that I can't see all the different transition folders.
Hope you can help me.

PS: your problem is completely different than the one described in this tip & trick, because I never heard anybody having this kind of problem (unable to see transitions folders). This tutorial only deal with Declic Video FX transitions, and not Pinnacle transitions folders. I would say that you had a problem during install ? Can you please contact us through Pinnacle forum ?

This tip works well with Vista 64.
It is essential to fully read the instuctions and turn off the UAC - otherwise it will not work!

Déclic, thanks for your help on this - re-reading your website has enabled
me to solve the problem!
After my previous e-mail to you I had a problem with my new PC (unrelated to Studio 12/HFX) and had to do a complete reinstall. When I eventually
reinstalled Studio 12, transferred previous HFX Mega content and installed
SmartSound, only the standard Studio 12 HFX effects would show in the album.
I then re-read your instructions and saw that for Vista the UAC had to be
turned off! After doing this and executing your batch file all the HFX Mega
Transitions were visible.
I then installed the HFZ files from my old PC (with UAC off) and then ran
your batch file. My personal HFX folder and the transitions were then also
visible and worked correctly.

Hello eian,
It means that your installation has not been processed through the usual standard way (you probably installed HFX/Studio in a separate hard disk or in a non standard folder). In such case, we can not provide a batch file which is working, so you have to follow the MANUAL method described in this tutorial. Keep us informed.

I tried both tips listed to make transitions appear rather than show as "black" and I still see them as black. Also, some of them have an "unlock box and the Pinnacle" logo watermark.
I did the following
:
Open the transition and click edit, do nothing and close Pinnacle and re-open
and
For Studio 12 : --> Repare-HFX-S12-XP.bat

As you can see in this comment section, some other people already had your problem. But it has always been solved by *STRICTLY* following the tutorial. Sometimes, we forget one step. Try to repeat it. Also download a new transition, it might help as well.
Concerning unlock, try our 3 HFX unlock (search for keyword unlock in the Free HFX page), also check our HFX FAQ (there is a utility called InstallHFZ.exe - FAQ is called "How can all the Hollywood FX transitions be unlocked ?"). Have you also tried: Tip-2 My HFX thumbnails in Studio are black ?
If nothing work, please contact us through the contact page, or through forums.
@ DJ M,
Same tips than for Gene, carefully go step by step through the tutorial, you will see that they will show up (do not forget to *CLOSE* Pinnacle Studio before launching the batch file).

Problem - NON LEGIBLE THUMBNAILS
After reinstalling my operating system and studio TWICE the thumbnails for HFX 3 are sill not legible ! Pinnacle is sending me a new disc as they decided that the problem is with the execution . Pinnacle had sent me a replacement for my HFX 3 disc but nothing changed !
Used Windows "un installer" to remove HFX 3 ( Did NOT work - HFX 3 remained functioning in Studio 12 and in the HFX Editor ) Don't know why ??????
Read your FAQ on deleting individual transitions in HFX and deleted one by one all the transitions for HFX 3 in the Editor
Deleted each group heading in the Editor
Checked Studio 12 and all transitions where still listed for HFX 3
Ran your REPAIR - HFX 12 file
Ran "Ccleaner" software to eliminate junk files that are not valid
Ran a software for REGISTRY repairs etc. ( I use Registry Booster 2 )
Reloaded Disc containing HFX 3
SUCCESS !!!!
Pinnacle was not able to fix but your little program did the final trick !!
I have to keep saying on how you have added to the joy of a great hobby !! I hope you will let everyone know that !!

Out of the 70 comments left in this section, half of them (35) appeared to be problems identical to yours. After investigation and contacting people, it appears that the tutorial was not followed correctly, or that one step was missed...
I would be grateful if you can:
1/ Read carefully the tutorial once more
2/ Try the manual steps
3/ If all fails, then download our Repare-HFX batch file which will solve the problem (but read the notice with it, apply it correctly)...

greatest tutorial for me. I have had the same problem each time that install 12 or later after 10. HFX should appear only if I have studio 10 installed even.
Now I have all my HFX without being forced to have studio 10 too.

Some weeks ago my computer crashed. Now it is fixed again, so I have to re-install a lot of programs, including the Déclic transitions.
Before the crash I used Windows XP and Pinnacle Studio 12 ultimate and could easily install the Déclic transitions.
Now I use Windows 7 with the same Pinnacle program, but I cannot install the Déclic transitions now. Is there perhaps a special trick to do this in Windows 7?

Hello Huiby,
if it is not already done on your system (Windows 7) you have to turn off the UAC. Click on the following link (if you are not sure how to do the modification in your O.S.)
As Loosecannon has explained at the top of this tutorial : ... you must be logged in administrator mode when running the batch file (in order to regenerate the HfxXML folder) *and* when running Studio once using Windows 7 or Vista.

I used studio 9 Plus and OS windows XP . The Indian Effects and SHAM & SONS Effects does not appear correctly in the list of transitions in HFX Pinnacle Studio. All effects correctly show in hfx5 . I also deleted all org file . Please help me.....

I format the C drive of My Hard Disc and install OS windows XP and driver.
Then install studio 9 plus and unlock all. I have a disc which is the content
copy of effects images objects folder. This 3 folder copy
and past in the path - "C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Hollywood FX for Studio\5.5\"
then I open the studio 9 get a error- "Easy FX Standalone Editor has encounter
a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" and shut
down pinnacle software . This 3 folder copy and past in the path -
"C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Hollywood FX 5\" and fine work in Premiere Pro 1.5.
Finally Delete the effects.org and Album Org.org file which is located in folder
Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Pinnacle\Hollywood FX for Studio.
But not solve .Please help me Please...........

I have tried everything that are written in tutorials. first the folders did not show, but somehow I was able to fix this with the help of the "Repare-HFX-11-12-14-15" batch file. and the folder declic video appeared.
my question is Do I have to use the "Repare-HFX-11-12-14-15" batch file everytime I have to install new transitions downloaded from your website?...
I tried installing directly without repair. i didnt work. so I used the "Repare-HFX-11-12-14-15" batch file then installed the new FX transitions before reopening Studio 14 program, andit worked.
so Does it mean I have to use the "Repare-HFX-11-12-14-15" batch file everytime?

Hello Rajesh,
Yes you need to use the "Repare-HFX..." file each time you install a new transition downloaded from our website.
But you can:
- download all transitions (there is a zip file which exist)
- extract all of them
- close Studio
- double click on each transition to install it
- run Repare-HFX-... only once for all installation
Is that clear ? Does it make sense ?

Topic: HFX transitions not visible in Studio.
In the past I installed Declic transitions in Studio 11/12. Sorry, I don't remember how I did this, but a long time ago I migrated to Studio 14 (Studio 12 is still installed) and all my transitions are now active in studio 14.
Unfortunately, installation of additional (Declic) transitions in studio 14 fails. HFZ files are properly unpacked/installed, but hfx files are not visible in studio (however they can be selected in the FX editor).
Of course I followed all guidelines listed on your site by deleting cachefiles and all xml+bmp files (also checked out the batch file which did not work as my installation is not default but I am sure I did the right thing).
Installation details:
Windows 7 64 bit.
HFX files are in:
D:\Video\Studio\HollywoodFX\Effects (all studio content
Cache files are in:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Pinnacle\Program Files (x86)\Multimedia\Pinnacle\Studio 14\Programs\PlugIns\Rtfx
XML and BMP files are in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\MULTIMEDIA\Pinnacle\Studio 14\Plugins\RTFx\HfxXML
It seems that both cachefiles are properly rebuilt when Studio 14 is opened, but the folder HfxXML stays empty: the files are not recreated as advised...
Test: after manual deletion of an existing xml (e.g. BAS-UFO.xml) it is not visible in Studio and is also not recreated after startup, even if the HFX file is there.
Any advise would be highly appreciated. Kind regards and thanks for your excellent transitions!

We always recommend a standard installation, otherwise it's very difficult or quite impossible to help people, since everybody has a different installation.
In your case, it seems that the installation is not standard, and therefore I am unable to help, I can just propose to follow our guideline, and doing the job by yourself, and trying to understand why the XML is not reconstructed itself.

Actually the only thing not standard about my installation is, that I installed Studio in a subfolder 'multimedia' in the programs folder. Installation of all studio features (such as transitions) in a separate folder is a formal option offered by the Studio installation package when upgrading from a previous version...
I have read all articles on your site and applied your procedures (ref articles Tip-1 and 2), but xml and bmp files are simply not being rebuilt, only the cache files. I have read some articles from Studio users who mention the same problem, so I am not completely alone it seems...
It would really help if I could gain some insight in how studio uses/rebuilds these hfx-related xml and bmp files. Do you have any information on that process or on the contents of the xml files?
PS: All I could find untill now is a 'work around' (which you might publish in a tip): Use an existing HFX transition in Studio, open it with HFX editor and then replace it with the desired HFX, which is invisible in Studio but visible in the editor in the appropriate album. Then close the editor and although the icon on the Studio timeline remains unchanged, the new transition is now applied.

The way Studio rebuilds the xml is extremely confusing for us as well...
That's why, we are in favor of standard installation. As you said, the option you choose is offered, but it causes problem, we know this, and that's why many people finally re-install everything to benefit from our transition (and strictly following a standard installation).
Otherwise, Have you looked here and tried the option with the zip file ? >> Install our free HFX transitions in Pinnacle Studio

Absolutely brilliant. In the zipfile 'install our free transitions in AVid Studio' I found the xml and bmp files I have been looking for. I copied them to the appropriate Studio folder and voila, it works. Thanks a lot.
Suggestion: rename the link to the zipfile or make a link on your tip#1 page: it is a good solution but it refers to Avid Studio which was the reason I overlooked it.

Finally yesterday I succedeed after many days to restore all my transitions...
I Thaught...
In fact no declic video appears..
I thaught because has the same number of others
00 - Declic Video
so i changed everywhere in
35 - declic video
and so the same with some other transition disappeared...
But Pinnacle 15 doesn't see the transition.
The only way is using a transition that I see, edit it, and substitute from Easyfx program...
Can you help me?

Heh heh. I see nothing has changed with Pinnacle Studio over the years since I bought v8 later upgrading to version 9.4, I was going to buy the HFX transitions key but I'm glad I didn't. I'll stick with the buggy 9.4; at least I have workarounds for most of the bugs/issues/f*ups.
Anyway you are doing great work. Pinnacle should pay you a fee.

It does not solve the problem. Optimal supplement to Studio 16
I have already tried to install a my new transition with this system:
1 - HFX Editor exported from its HFZ
2 - installed in my S16 Ultimate
3 - installed in S15 (of my friend)
copied to the folder where the file ONLY. XML (without the BMP / PNG)
and it works the same.
Since my PC has worked with XML obtained from a S15 version installed on the PC of a friend, I would ask:
Why do you say that S15 must be installed in the same partition as S16?
It could also stand on another PC or am I wrong?

To display the transitions, Studio 16 needs xml files and bmp file.
You must provide the xml files and Studio 16 uses the Studio 11/15 bmp file that he knows how to find. If Studio 11/15 is not installed on the same partition, Studio 16 can't find the bmp file and it does not display transitions.
When the user does not have Studio 11/15 installed on the same partition, he must use the Step 2 procedure.

first of all thanks for the reply,
on my PC I only S16 and in my case there was no need of the BMP file (which calls S16 PNG) as follows:
1) created or changed with the transition HFX editor, slide play with up to mid-term (otherwise you will see the icon of the black transition)
2) saved in the transition HFX editor, I exported desktop (you will find a file HFZ)
3) double-click the file HFZ so even installing the various components
4) copied the files from the folder HFX HFX editor to the library folder of pinnacle (along with others)
5) copied the (only) XML file sent to me by a friend of mine with S15 that had installed on his PC my HFZ.
It worked.
In the library you will see the same image of the icon visible in HFX editor
Try it for yourself.

Great it works on your configuration. But your method is not working on all configuration, in particular if you bypass "the installation of a transition" you might have problem (which force you to drag and drop the file onto the InstallHFZ.exe file).

I couldn't get the transitions to work. I still get the Pinnacle logo
Downloaded the 310-gateau.hfz transition. I deleted the effects.org and the albumorg.org files in the hollywood fx for studio directory.
Do I need the repare-HFX.bat?
Earlier I said I had version 9.4 - this is wrong 9.4 is totally unusable - it is unbelievably slow; I went back to version 9.3, I found another program to convert DVDs to AVI (I don't need to do this very often anyway).
Another thing; is it true that your transitions are only free if certain transition packs were purchased from Pinnacle?

At the top of our download page transitions, it is written: "These effects have been tested, are virus free and work correctly in Pinnacle Studio 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 12, 11, 10 as well as Adobe Première V1.5 & 2.x (2), under Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Win7 or Win8 to the transition #300. From the transition #301, the compatibility with Studio 9 can not be guaranteed and Pinnacle logo may appear in Studio 9".
It's not possible to use the 310-gateau.hfz transition in Studio 9.
All our transitions are completely free since Avid Studio marketing.

Thanks for responding so quickly.
I must have missed the bit about the transitions might not work in v9 and that the 310-gateau won't work at all. My apologies.
I never suggested that the transitions weren't free from DeClic, sorry if that's what you thought I said.
However since I posted that message, I uninstalled the Pinnacle Plus software - it wasn't much use; about 3Gb of extras that require payment to remove the watermark (actually it's more of a nasty stain than a subtle watermark). Anyway after I did that I clicked on Piinacle and a message about Heroglyph came up and when I try to use the 310-gateau transition, it's no longer a cake - it's a circle of dots. I need to remove Pinnacle completely; but using the Add/Remove programs in Control Panel leaves a lot of the program's directories and files behind.
As far as upgrading is concerned I'm not going to do that. Many issues in v8 that I reported to Pinnacle were never resolved. Now Pinnacle 8 users are left "High and Dry". Pinnacle v9 works better. I notice however that users of later versions are complaining of issues that were there in v8.
I got an email offering an upgrade to v18.5 for £59 - I might as well have placed a bet for Electro Velvet to win Eurovision for the good it will do me.
Incidentally Pinnacle are completely unhelpful; apparently I have to pay £money for a "Service Plan" before they'll even talk to me. If their "Tech" People do have an email address it is a company secret, the only email address I can find is for their Sales Team.
Unfortunately Pinnacle's attitude stinks; I have had problems and continue to have problems with their products that I have paid good money for, as far as I'm concerned they owe me v18.5 for the many wasted hours spent because of the problems with their software.
Anyway enough of my ramblings; please can you tell me where to find out how to uninstall Pinnacle Studio 9 completely. Please point me a the relevant forum. You can email me at xxxxxxxxx@gmail.com, if you want.

A also need to completely uninstall Pinnacle Studio but I can't find out exactly how to do it; What about regedit after Add/Remove. Another thought: What about Pinnacle's uninstall found in All Programs Studio Tools?
I want to do a fresh install before I check out the declic transitions, Pinnacle's website is no use at all.
I'm thinking also of installing Studio 9 on my laptop which has Windows 7 using the XP compatibility mode but I want to make sure I can remove it fully in case it doesn't work very well.
I don't think the CBM is a good place to buy these products; I heard there were Trojan Whores there and they have nasty viruses.

The transitions I was missing for a while they reappeared again. thanks for your work.
